Introdución del hombre Danés

Actually, before even looking up the almost overwhelming amount of topics on this forum, I have decided to introduce myself. I am 18 years old, I live in Denmark and I have been playing bass for about 2-3 years now.
1 year ago, when I started to learn spanish in school, the first thing I tried to do was to find out why I should learn it. So I questioned myself and looked things up online, that was when I really found the guitar "superstars" of flamenco Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, Vicente Amigo, and more. My passion was literally lit ablaze, all those different harmonies and cadences.
But I have not been good at organising a self-study, and that is why I signed up to this forum.
To listen, absorb and practice whatever you might have to say.
Looking forward to whatever might come out of this.

Tak til min rumbo for hjælp til skrivningen af denne introduktion.

Welcome Noel! You will learn a lot about Flamenco just with this forum and youtube. Are you thinking of playing guitar too?

Welcome to the foro and greetings from Holland. I used to play electric bass in my fathers music school band when i was 11. Later on conservatory i planed to pick it up as a second instrument, this time aiming for the big contrabas. I had to start out on an electric first because the classic department was a little reluctant to lend their classical contrabass to a representer of light music, let along a flamenco player. The very day they allowed me to have a go i played it a couple of hours on a row, after which my fingers were covered with blisters, not allowing me to play my guitar for weeks.... never touched a bass again.

Last year (27 years after it was founded en i became their first student) the first bass player graduated at the flamenco department of Rotterdam conservatory. One of the better flamenco players of my school years switched to playing bass as well, finding an alternative kind of employment in the local flamenco bands. There are a couple of flamenco bass players active in the Netherlands, some of them pretty good. I totally loved the flamenco bass solo Renaud Garcia Fons played over here 2 years ago on the flamenco biennale, he's the most gifted and varied bass player i've ever seen, produces the most amazing sounds and often makes it sound like a violin played the indian way.

What will be your instrument for flamenco, guitar, bass or both?

What a great and fun story, I didn't know that the bass could have such a big role in flamenco music, you have given me something to think about :D
As of what instrument I would pick, I'd say both, but I think I will focus my flamenco study mainly on the guitar right now, and implement it sooner or later to my bass playing.
Because right now I am participating in the school's musical where I will be playing some soul/blues bass for our interpretation of "The Commitments" And that is what I think I will be doing with my "bass time" as of now.
So to cut it short:
I will mainly be practicing flamenco on my guitar and later on bass too.

P.S
Thanks for showing me this great video.
Love it when he after the break at 2:02 changes playing style to something more pentatonic
