Need some help in identifying this g...

Hello All,

I am currently working on a documentary project on Leonard Cohen's time in Israel, entertaining troops during the October 1973 war.

I know from reading this forum and LC's forum that he played a Ramirez 1A guitar, and later, around 1972, purchased a Conde from 7 Gravina.

For the purpose of reenactment, I am looking to acquire the guitar seen in the accompanying photos. The one detail that I am focusing on to determine the make of the guitar is the headstock. LC's Conde has the typical Conde headstock, and the Ramirez headstock looks different from the one seen in the photos. I think this guitar may have been borrowed while he toured the Sinai, but from the light top and sides does seem to suggest that the guitar is a flamenco guitar.

Please let me know what you think. I am keen to hear any theories or suggestions of what the guitar might be. I want to be accurate and period correct in the film, so I appreciate in advance any information available.

Very best,

Michael

Thanks, Ricardo. I am very appreciative for your input!

That does seem to be quite a similar headstock. But the one thing that makes this unlikely is that the photos were taken in October 1973, and Thomas Rein Guitars was established in 1975.

Even so, for the purpose of a film, a close approximation will do.

I am also looked at the amazing resource of different flamenco headstock designs that was compiled by Tony Arnold.

Any other guesses out there?

It's really hard to see from the photo, but the headstock looks like it could be Manuel Contreras.
