Manuel Bellido 79

I would like to know if anybody knows something about this Manuel Lopez Bellido from 1979.
The Headstock is different then the normal 2 of M. Bellido but it seems to be original as it gets!

do you think the price is good for a M. Bellido in almost perfect conditions!?

http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s-anzeige/flamencogitarre-manuel-lopez-bellido-1979-blanca/125444328-74-9510?ref=search

or is it a 2nd or 3rd class guitar of him?

thanks a lot

Paschi

Looks genuine to me and pretty standard in appearance for the time.
He has changed head designs a few times. These are the approximate dates.
c1960 Made guitars with Antonio Marin with the old Casa Ferrer headstock
Up to 1985 – used the head in your picture
1986-2000 – used a different head
2001 passed on this design to his son Jesus and reverted to pre-1985 head for his own guitars (he is semi-retired now)

I have a couple of Manual Bellido guitars from the 90's and I really like them - he is a bit of a flamenco specialist.

Price is difficult - I suspect that the seller is expecting offers. A really good 1989 one sold for £1800 in London 3 years ago but prices seem pretty crazy at the moment. It might not be the advice you want to hear, but play before you buy is the only way to be sure that you get good value for your money.

You might like to read this from John Ray (he now has a book out where perhaps you will find more).

In my oppinion it is a bit expensive, 1979 is old, how are the frets?
I bought a 2002 Jose Lopez Bellido for 2200 euro in 2004.
In my oppinion Jose Lopez is as good or even better as his brother.

So, i would suggest 3000 to the seller if I liked it a Lot and the frets are still ok.
There is a lot to buy for 3000 euro's.

But not so much in stores ( unlike from not too famous but good luthiers).
Last time that I checked serious stores in Berlin ( six years ago) for 3000 bucks you would only get estudios of which many were heavy and blund bulks.

Nothing that could come close to fine handmades.

The situation appeared different with private ads, but also there concert guitars would start at around 4000 €.
Just sayin´.

I think in general you are right Ruphus, but saw last week also an Eladio Fernandez 1978 for 1500 euro .....
And an Andres Dominguez from 2004 for 1795,- euro....

Not in Germany though, but The Netherlands.

Like my friend Jo in Germany.
He digs out antique guitars for small cash all the time.
( Though mostly beaten up ones, I think.)

Strangely, although Eladio bought the wood for his brother and for many others, such as his great friend Valerio Bernal, his guitars never reached the level of his brother. Still a guitar of Eladio is buena.

There used to be these guys who came to my shop and argued about guitar prices while they hung out, Que horror. I finally kicked them out when they started doing guitar deals in my shop.
