Dark Side

I really enjoy Tommy Emmanuel playing solo fingerstyle guitar and dont deny that he has put in the work and can play but..... why do people let him on stage to ruin their gigs ?

All over you tube there are videos of him taking a big dump on jazzy material and playing so inanely and unmusically that he forces normally interesting soloists down to his level.

Exactly who is lapping this rubbish up and how can we get them to clean their ears out ?

Watch him wrestle the normally poised and tasty Joscho Stefan down to the lowest common denominator as the crowd (...oh my aching heart) go wild.

Dumbfounded

Tommy is a talented guy and a showman, but he does absolutely nothing for me.

Well, I thought the playing was appropriate stylistically for this up tempo django jazz type stuff. It ain't easy IMO, and both players do fine with they tools they have. I dont see any problems here.

This Chet Atkins tune kind of sounds turn of the century New Orleans to me. Joscho normally plays Django style.

Really ?

Maybe compare it with this and get back to me.

I like the first video, I think it's perfect.

For the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner hour, "meep meep"

diarreha fingers is not music. accomplished player perhaps but not necessarily musical. why does everyone today think they have to do impossible stretches at breaknet speed to play music? gee, I can stretch five frets away listen to this flurry. But it sounds awful. Im confused I thought we were making music hear [sic] here

Haha.. I thought the same when I saw him together with Antonio Rey on stage..... till Tommy finished extroverted strumming and strange body movements and Antonio started playing...10 levels above him..Well..it was just picado bashing..I didnt like it either..but it was still a different world. ...They should never play together on stage again... if I have no bucket in close range.... . . .to vomit. Sounds hard huh? ..Well everybody has his opinion..even if I suck in comparison to both players... yeah........ we should not judge about players who have abilities we will never reach. .... hmmmm but its fun. So lets do it! :)
