Hello from Germany

As my login name says I am an old beginner who fumbled around with playing american folk guitar now and for a long time - and then at the age of 52 decided to try to learn flamenco guitar as far as I can take it. So I do not expect to ever become a really good flamenco guitarist, but I am really fascinated about flamenco and I just want to enjoy.

Greetings from Holland and welcome to the foro....how good you can/will become depends on your talent/ambition/commitment and finger history....like the question if you used to apply right hand fingerpicking or plectrum techniques only in your previous career. I once worked with a flamenco dancer who was able to join any advanced flamenco masterclass and was amazed to find out he only started his flamenco career a couple of years before (and on a later age than 52)...but he was an exceptionally talented teacher of classical ballet in his previous life. My father made a career switch from classical to flamenco guitar at exactly that age as well....he had to learn to play the guitar all over again (as far as the right hand is involved). He never aspired to become a really good flamenco guitarist himself but focused on/excelled in his main profession, the art of teaching which consumed over 80% of his activities ..... don't think you'll find a better teacher in the art of flamenco guitar than my father....he's 80 now and returned to his old love...playing Bach on the lute.
