Lunch with Miguel de Maria

During my recent mini-vacation to Tempe, Arizona, I had the good fortune to share lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant ("Rosita's") with Miguel de Maria. Miguel, I want to thank you once again for taking time from your busy schedule with gigs and family to meet me for lunch. And for your CD as well.

As all on the Foro know, Miguel has wide-ranging knowledge and interests, and lunch was accompanied by a very interesting conversation. And, amazingly, we never once mentioned Noam Chomski, Antonio Gramsci, capitalism or socialism. There were much more interesting things to talk about.

Miguel, your CD is beautiful. It has everything: Romanza, El Condor Pasa, Girl from Ipanema, Solea', and much more. I would recommend it to anyone who likes an eclectic grouping of solo guitar pieces on one CD. I plan to take it with me, along with my Sabicas and Nino Ricardo CDs, to an Inn where I am staying over Christmas. So you will be in good company. Or maybe I should say Sabicas and Nino Ricardo will be in good company!

Cheers,

Bill

Bill, the pleasure was mine! It was a shame we didn't get to talk politics, but we just ran out of time, didn't we? Thank you for your time and introducing me to a Valley institution, Rosita's, of which I had been unaware.

And thanks for the plug (although I should never be mentioned in the same sentence as musical luminaries!). :)
