flamenco+flavours

Paco started it and now its in every album, but why most of it is boring!?
I mean, the discs have the flamenco songs and then they have the latino rumbas or then theres tango flavour or the bossanova.For me they are fine, but not really touching anything.

I've heard two cds that make an exeptions. They have the flamenco and they've managed to add some interresting flavour. And the albums are Jose Manuel Leons-Sirimusa and Terremotos-Terremoto.
I like Sirimusa more.

Im just hoping the latino pop would disappear and some more interresting collaborations would come instead.

Do you think the lazy latino, bossanova and tango is essential part of flamenco or could they be replaced for example with, industrial

, jungle, drum'n base or what ever style?

yeh, usually they are, but when done well some new instruments can add.

Take for example cajon. Its used much and its considered normal in the records. The fretless base is (thank god) not used so much any more and fat base has taken its place. Tablas make a good sound that fits well with flamenco imho.

These are only instruments and all sorts of styles use them.

We have this discussion every few months or so I guess. Well Latin American styles and most importantly jazz and bossa nova are for obvious reasons the most natural direction for flamenco to develop towards, in my opinion.

I have no problem with fusion and influences like these if it is done well. In fact when I first got into flamenco I thought Vicente Amigo's recent material was really cheesy but now I think he is a masterful composer.

Can't please everyone. And it's not like Paco's old records suddenly disappear when he releases a new one that sounds really modern.

Its fine if this has been discussed before. Maybe something new will show up.

I dont think latin and bossanova are the most natural for everybody. Propably only to those who have been listening or groving up with that kind of stuff.
It was simplier before when there were only handfull of music styles and the world was bigger, but now with internet and satellite television and open borders so many influenses are close to everybody.

Im quite sure new generation of andalucian youngsters listen many different kind of music on top of flamenco, not only bossanova and latin.
