elevated fingerboard

Hi All
What is the benefit of elevated fingerboard? if it makes playing much easier why it is not common with classical or blanca? and i never seen blanca with that.
thanks

RE: elevated fingerboard (in reply to erictjie

The idea, I think is to facilitate playing above the 12th fret. A friend of mine had a blanca made by a well respected northern California builder. It sounded great, fit and finish perfect, but looked like a bastard rat. The sound board sloped down from about the soundhole to the heel of the neck and you had all this material below the fret board under the 12th fret. It seemed top heavy, but that may have been a perception caused by observing all tha 'extra' neck wood.
There may be benefits other than playing above the 12th fret, but none that I'm aware of. If I needed that extra room, I'd go for a cutaway. Just my opinion.
Cheers, Dave
