Heel/Body Crack?Warp? whats this??

there's some kinda crack/warp on my guitar where the neck/ heel meets the body and to me It seems like AS IF the glue or something is going off, I have no idea what's going on but recently when i grabbed my guitar it, felt like something clicked as if the body was about to de-attach from the neck!
I had a good look at the area and I found this on one side of the guitar only!
here are the pictures

I am thinking maybe the wood is shrinking because it was not humidified well enough (even though its been in the case with a humidifier)

please let me know what you think
thank you so muc

Are you talking about where there is a space between the binding and the neck wood? Sometimes a little filling needs to be done in that area if the binding channel is cut too deep. It kinda looks like that's what happened and whatever filler was in there has come loose maybe. It's hard to tell. But I don't see anything structurally worrying.

Yes!
thanks a lot for the reply Andy. so do you have any suggestions of what I should do? just ignore it? or should I have it looked at by a local music store? anything that might happen in the long run?

First of all, in traditional spanish building, the neck is not glued to the sides. So what is interesting is to know wheater your guitar has been build with a Spanish neck body joint or with what I think is called a tenon/mortize joint.

Most probably its spanish and to me it looks like its the varnish that is cracking because of the guitar drying out. But its very difficult to say without having the guitar in the hands. If I´m right, its an easy repair and you dont have to do anything. Check the humidity and if necesary humidify it a bit, then slightly clean the varnish crack, fill a bit and a slight touch up with varnish.

Does the neck feel loose? If it does, then its something serious and you should take it to a pro.

Ahmad - you should take it to Tom @ the Folklore Centre (next to the library downtown) to have a look, just to be safe.

ya I think its spanish. I have no idea how to clean the varnish crack and how to put the varnish on it. I dont know how to do any work on a guitar other than changing the strings and putting a humidifier in there. I dont wanna screw any thing up either..

what I think is called a tenon/mortize joint.

When American woodworkers speak of a mortise and tenon, both pieces often have straight sides.

The guitar neck joint typically has slanted sides to lock the neck into place. Americans in the guitar business tend to call it a dovetail joint.

But if you say "dovetail" to an American furniture maker--not a guitar maker, he probably would think of this:

Of course, English furniture makers speak a different language from American ones, so I have no idea what they would say.

Thanks for correcting. Its called a dovetail.

Kudo, first of all, take it easy, if the neck/body joint feels firm, then I should only be esthetical.
When I described the repair proces as simple, it was also to let you know that if someone else than you were to repair it, dont accept a to cost.
