1st build complete - How sweet the sound

After 8 months and many mistakes, my first attempt at guitar building finally makes a sound, and how sweet it is to hear your own guitar for the first time.
It is based on Reyes dimensions, Cocobolo back and sides, Cedar top, Spanish Cedar neck.
I made my own rosette and the design carried over to the headstock, bridge and tailpiece and even the soundport. It is based on one of the Moorish mosaics at the Alhambra.
The back of the headstock is also closed with Cocobolo.
Top is about 1.9mm and back about 2mm. Bridge at 18g, 655mm scale. I will probably be remaking the bridge and adding more french polish, but for now, I'm just savoring the sounds.

That is one elaborate guitar!

I have to say that I do enjoy the patterns and details alot!

It definatly stands out alot, and it speaks "guitarra morisca" to me.

What I am even more curious of is, how does it sound, ow does it feel to play it?

It looks to me like you have put alot of efford into this guitar, would be fun to hear it as well!

Congratulations on your first build too!!

Here is a short video of my teacher taking it for a test run.

I could not figure out how to embed the video

congratulations.
You´ve really put a lot of work into that guitar. Its not may style, but I have a lot of respect for what you´ve made.
Are you going to build more?

Thank you Anders.
I realise this is not everyones cup of tea, but that is what is great about building one especially for yourself. I wanted to use the Gorgeous wood I found and have a Moorish design while learning the techniques.
I will build more but will probably stick to Blanca next time. Working with colored highly oiled woods is a challenge..

Looks good and sounds great! Amazing work there. The back of the head is my favorite part.

Top is about 1.9mm

And it's cedar.. must have been nice and stiff. Did you dome the top?

Thanks Andy
Yes, the top has about a 2mm dome. It was quite stiff and although its thin it seems to be quite ridgid right now. Its very live when you tap it. I guess time will tell if it holds up.

Great job - sounds good and looks even better.
I thought my 1st looked good, but this is a piece of art!
I'm interested, what action did you end up with? (string height at bridge, soundhole, 12th fret)?

lsnyman:
I think I meet you the other day over at Miguel Antonios house, you avatar looks similar to the guitar he had behind his desk. Was this the guitar you were attaching the bridge or was that your second build?

The sound was great, you are very talanted.

RTC and Isnyman, you guys are in DFW? I'm in Denton. I took a few lesson from Miguel. I didn't recognize him in the video until RTC mentioned him in this post. Had a second look and there he is lol. How cool.

My Brother lives in McKinney so I'm up there every now and then. I'm in Highland Village quite a bit. Where do you play? A foro night would be awesome.

If I didn't get back to you I apologize. I got hit with so many emails about the stuff I was letting go, I wasn't able to get back to everyone. #1 came out beautifully.
