Guitar Course Fiesta

I'm not sure if this thread belongs here or in the Luthier section, but anyway.....
Yesterday was yet another beautiful day in Andalucia which considering it is now nearly November we have had a year of amazing weather since February. I was very lucky to be invited by Stephen Hill to Andres Segovias house to play some new guitars. I had never been to Segovias house before. It is absolutely beautiful, Huge grounds and guitar sculptures in the garden like this one.

The house has its own chapel where even the pope came one time to renew Segovias marriage vows. The views from the garden are breathtaking.

The reason why I was there was play some guitars made by students at Stephen Hills guitar making course in La Herradura. The course is an intensive 5 weeks of guitar making and at the end the students had their finished guitars played by professional players. It was a great way to finish the course. Each student sat alongside the guitarist while their instrument was played for the first time and some of the themes performed were written for or by Segovia

I played a flamenco guitar made of an unusual wood called black limber. It had a very bright punchy sound. It felt inspiring to be sitting in the same place Segovia would often sit to play the guitar.

Finally as the sun set over la Herradura we all went into the town for a few beers and a lively fiesta.

La Herradura is on the Costa del sol in the very south of Spain on the mediterranean sea. It's in the Granada province. Its known as the tropical coast because the land is so fertile and there are many types of palm and fruit tree.

Wow, everything about this is idyllic. Nice story and beautiful pictures. Definitely a great experience. It was a good idea to bring your camera.
