30 Seconds to fall in love

This isn't really off topic since its about flamenco. There are some lovely ladies in the flamenco world, Marina is beautiful, Chonchi is divine but I have found my new favorate.

Someone sent me this video this morning and I think I fell in love with India Martinez in 30 seconds flat...

She is not only beautiful, but she has a great voice too.
I have both albums.
My favourite from her is a Lento Bulerias in Menor, which is called "Pension de la Martinica".

Love it. I posted it on my Facebook too, as an "accessible" palo for my non-flamenco friends - thanks!

EDIT: Wondering if someone can put together the guitar arrangement. It's rekindled my interest in testing my ability to accompany cante.

Hi Pim,

Glad you've found your true impossibe love to torture yourself with.

She's actually not to my taste at all...I could easily pass her by in the street or at a party.

So who is my dream girl? (maybe in another life another time)....

She melts my heart..ahhhh...I fell in love forever!

Ah Rio, that would explain everything. Ela era o seu amor?

Sound a little Scottish to you? I can hear the pipes, the pipes are calling... or is that Ireland?

Nah, it's Portuguese. This is an old friend of mine. We used to hang out. A most underrated artist of the 80s. Sorry about the thread hijack

This is the type of cante I like.. with melody in the singing..
I like Jose Merce because there's melody in his singing as well..
A lot of other singing to me sounds like someone screaming without melody in the singing. (please dun crucify me heehee)
What type of cante is this? Is this a special sorta singing?
Anymore singers sing with melody like this?

cheers

HolyEvil.... God bless you, dear, but you entirely missed the point of this thread, I am afraid.

Sorry not close to chonchi. The thing that does it for me is the tuning and the strength in the voice, not just the face.....

Ron - I hope we are not going to go back to the Virginia Bottomly conversation again

Ricardo - I knew mentioning Chonchi would light your fire. Chonchi and I didnt work out unfortunately . I really think India is much more my type.....

I can see she's really beautiful, and has great musicality, but I agree with Ricardo that she doesn't seem to have that strength of voice of some cantaoras. Not sort of smoky and earthy enough for my taste.

But that's just one clip, I shouldn't judge on that alone. So Arash she has two albums??

Virginia Bottomly?....Nah you mean Edwina Currie.

And I wasn't in love with her anyway, just a sorta bit of the hots at the time.

Simon...that tune is very good, but IMO it's definitely highly derivatave of "Danny Boy".

(Would any of our Irish members agree? )

cheers,

Ron

Is that the way how cante accompanists pick up (flamenco) women? "You have such a nice tuning..."
Then i think i know what dance accompanists would say, probably about feet...
But i have no clue about solo guitarrists. I mean there is no natural connection between women and solo guitar, except cheesy things like "Spanish Romance"

A little too gentle for my tastes. It sounds like Peter Gabriel Flamenco.
Still- she's hot and sings well. Ill give her that.
