Festivals in August Sept 2011

I am planning a trip to Andalucia in late August September next year. Can someone tell me likely festival dates.. I can only see something massive brewing in September in Sevilla so far.

Generally August is a quiet time as everyone goes on holiday and it is way too hot. You can google for festivals in Spain and check but I have a feeling the feria in Malaga is in August. Val will probably know about this. In Granada there is the Flamenco festival "Corrales del Carbon" which usually runs throughout August.

Festival de Cante de las Minas (in La Union, near Murcia) - beginning of August.

late August/start september is the dead period, where everyone is exhausted after the vacations and worried about having to work again or worried about the summer that never ends.

In general, July is much more lively

Thanks all. I can't make Cantas de las Minas as I don't get off work til late August. I see the Sevilla event is biannual so it looks as if I am pretty well out of the festival zone. I had a great time and learnt a lot on my first trip in 2009 just bumping into stuff. I'll have to make do with that by the looks of things.
