How many gigs do you have?

I would like to ask a question: how many gigs did you have last year, and how is the situation now. Iwould like to know, how it is going in other countries. Because here it seems to be not the best time for flamenco. Last year we (me and my band) played a lot, but only because of a dela with National Philharmony. We had gigs for children (schools, culture centers, others), each month we went for a small tour through Poland, four to seven 45 minutes' gigs each day (low paid, but anyway great adventure: living in a car, eating cold food, an drinking lots of beer in the evenings). But, the problem is, that besides this one contract, we played only maybe 5 gigs, that were arranged by ourselves. In the past years we played a lot more. Even in the dance schools there are not many new students. So, I would like to know, how are you going in your own countries?

Waiting for any nwes.

HI Felipe.
news from Australia...fairly seasonal here but i guess most guitarists (myself included) average a couple of week..(sometimes more)
As i write i have two weeks with an opera and dance company performing a piazzolla opera...so bonus things like this come up..
i also play in a guitar trio so we get at least a gig a week but are trying to target the festival circuit here...so far so good

Flamenco wise i am fortunate enough to live in a city with a couple of awesome players who naturally would get the first calls...luckily i get the 2nd guitar gig on occasions..so i get to play with some great players and learn a heap of stuff!

Your travel gigs i guess are the way to go depending on the size of the city you live in
In Australia we can also apply for touring grants which makes it a bit easier getting from A-B and more attractive for the promoters to book us...

on average we get $150=$250AU each per gig

Well, in Poland.

In my city there is only one player more, abnd we play together, but we don't play usually here. Last time I played in Łódź (the name of my city) was in july, and before that I didn't play here for about two years or something. And this tour didn't happen even near my city (it's one of the bigest ones), but mainly in really small ones near Warsaw (capitol city) and in te eastern part of the country. The problem is that, there was always something happening in Warsaw, now it looks much worse.

Touring grants - this sounds great, I don't know if it's possible here, naybe from some EU funds.

The gigs for children were really low paid - about 20 AUD each one per person (I checked the exchange rates), but the amount of gigs in every tour (up to 30) made us earn something (we dinn't have to pay for motels and fuel, the philharmony paid this for us). For a normal kind of gig we take about 200 AUD per person.

I have already put the name of the country in my profile. Not to make anybody ask (I didn't include it also in the post, sorry).
