Looking for a blanca, suggestions?

Hi,

looking for a new guitar, a flamenco blanca, for around 2.500 USD. I live in Sweden and we don´t have that many guitarshops to buy from. So if you have any suggestions on where to buy one (with worldwide shipping off course) and have any recommendations on which blanca in that price-range in your opinion is the better one, please post.

I´ve heard of La Sonanta and GSI, anyone bought a guitar from those?

Janne

If you buy within the EU you won't have to pay import tax.

In my experience Johannes at mundoflamenco is very good to deal with.

I think Sanchis Lopez guitars are also good in your price range.

Hi,
my suggeston is to spend a little bit more ( 3000 euro) to buy a fine flamenco guitar as those made by Anders Eliason.

http://www.eliassonguitars.com/index.htm

I have a blanca that He has made for me almost a year agò.
The guitar is perfect!, and has all the caracterstics of a concert flamenco guitar!

good look

Janne,

I highly recommend a Manuel Adalid Viviana flamenco blanca. I bought one a year ago from James Greenberg, who specializes in flamenco and classical guitars under his emporium's name of Zavaleta's La Casa de Guitarras, located in Tucson, Arizona. I visited his emporium and dealt with Mr. Greenberg personally. He is a very knowledgable dealer, and he will ship abroad. My Manuel Adalid Viviana has a great, flamenco sound. Check out the website for Zavaleta's La Casa de Guitarras, and you will see several Manuel Adalid Viviana's available for US$2,500, which is what I paid for mine.

Cheers,

Bill

You mentioned La Sonanta, thats a great site.
I love doin business with them. Just mail them ask your questions and you'll get an honest response!

The Adalid are indeed great sounding guitars. I've played the one with ceder top and sounded awesome.

Thanks for posting.

Anyone experienced the Esteve 9F, all solid blanca? Goes for about 2100 USD here (in sweden), it´s one of the alternatives for me if buying in our local store. Tried it out a month ago and I liked it, but I haven´t tried that many blanca´s so I don´t have anything to compare with.

Also there´s one swedish luthier who makes really nice flamenco guitars, but he told me his waiting list is about 5-6 years...

EDIT: I stand corrected, not 5-6 years for a blanca.

And the thing about ordering from a luthier outside of EU is the importing taxes, I´m guessing it´s about 28% here... so, haven´t decided anything yet... no easy task. But then again it might be worth it to be able to custom order a guitar of ones choice.

Hej Janne!

My main guitar is an Anders Eliasson blanca and I would recommend anyone to get a guitar by him. I'm very satisfied with mine. There are some other interesting builders that write on this site too, check them out as well.

Be careful one Conde may suit you much better than another. They are not all the same even ones from same shop, same year, same woods etc..

I dont think I've ever come across a Conde that I have liked personally. I have repaired quite a few. There might have been a 70's Conde that was quite good though :)

I purchased a flamenco from GSI and received what was promised. A great company to do business with. My 2 cents!
