Any Experience of Daniel Mari Strings?

Hello, has anyone tried Daniel Mari's strings? I have heard that are very percussive and muy flamenco. I looked up at search to Foro but no one has answered clearly.

Thanks for advance!

OK strings, not bad, not good IMO.
I dont think that strings can add much percussiveness, they just change the tone, the feel (rough or polished surface) and maybe have a certain way of vibrating (response), which to a very small degree might also influence percussiveness. I have two guitars with identical strings, and they feel and sound completely different.

RE: Any Experience of Daniel Mari St... (in reply to gounaro

gounaro--6 years ago i discovered mari strings--the purple pack flamenco strings. the trebles are very nice and work well on a long scale guitar. they are in the lower end of tension so on a 650 scale they are a little loose for some people. the bass strings were good as well but the trebles had a "wow factor".

now for the fun. i talked with daniel mari 6 years ago and he told me he formulated the strings for sabicas. how much truth there is in that story is hard to determine. sabicas is known to use just about every string there is--i have a pack of black diamond strings from the 60's that has sabicas' picture on the cover--not sure if he used them but black diamond paid him for his photo. they are for obvious reasons sitting on a my bookcase and not on my guitar.

daniel mari is part of the mari family who started labella strings. apparently there was a family fight and daniel either was kicked out of the business end of the family or he left to do his own thing. obviously i only got daniel's side of the story but i have heard from others that he was "kicked out" of the business side of the family. this, of course is hearsay information but if anything the strings have a colorful history.

the upshot to all of this--give them a try. by the way, the higher tension string i have heard do not have the sparkling trebles like the flamenco strings do.
