Evan has a fine technique, obviously it can be further improved...i'm sad about his expulsion from this forum, he could've become a respected member here, but of course he called for it...
what i really-really miss are examples of playing rhytmic palos with some simple falsetas, rasgueados...i'd like to hear those, not technical exercises and non-flamenco stuff...that way i could really judge his playing (not that it really matters, but i'm curious)...

Evan,

Good to see you discovered your pinkie can be used in arpeggios. I found that out just over 20 years ago when I was playing the C-major prelude by Bach. I've trained it in all sorts of arpeggios and scales as well. My teacher Eliot Fisk uses it a lot also. Check out also what Yamashita does with his pinkie if you want to really push your technique. I personally wouldn't use it for scales because of the dramatic length difference compared to other fingers. But a well trained pinkie will definitely help you to relax your hand, and will provide a more balanced workout for your muscles.

As for the picado exercise, I think you get a good speed. Try to make it more rhythmical and strive to make the notes even as they can be.

Your solea video, however, could be better. The rhythm is not clear. You also may wish to spend more time on alzapua, as it sounds a bit heavy and muddy. Nothing a few weeks of deliberate relaxation couldn't fix. Anyway, good luck!

Best regards,

No, if you had visited Evan's Myspace you would know that Zuz is not Evan (!) but his agent.

All this fuzz over this?

A few elementary, banal exercises?

Some guitar players (not musicians) seem to be impressed solely with the “dexterity” aspect of playing guitar. Probably inheriting that educational scarcity from excessively indulging videogames, during the most critical time of puberty.

Musical virtuosity may include speed and complex fingering, as ostentatious audience pleasing tools, but never at the expense of musicality and artistry.

Then he can explain the same IP for three identities and such opportune timing. He has a female agent in the same building? Go figure. So let them find an Internet cafe.

I am tired of this whole, juvenile saga. We deal with this kind of crap every few weeks. We get **** threats and other stuff you don't even want to know about. I think Florian has the formula for it somewhere

Regarding the pinky. Since learning classical first, I was kinda taught by my Flamenco teacher to just ignore the pinky because nobody uses it.

But honestly, I still kept practicing it. Also, a few times when my index finger nail breaks, I switch it up when doing arpeggios.

Golpe with pinkie? Medio, Anular+Muñeca golpe? In case of emergency I do this. For some reason my index finger nail always breaks.

Yeah, and after all the hype this is what it amounts to? We're used to videos with music in them. (Flamenco music)

Evan,

Again, in your rasgueado video you say that people should ignore their tired muscles and the feeling of pain and continue playing difficult exercises. It may still work for you for a little bit longer, as you are young. But mark my words: you will get injured if you continue doing it this way. And it will bring you agony and frustration.

Something like this happened to me in my teens and also a few months ago when I played my flamenco for many hours on a high-action classical guitar with super hard tension strings. Thing were going great and I could do things I never could before for a few weeks. But then I started to get tired more, every day I woke up with tired hands and they felt week and beat-up when I played. You don't ever want to feel that, trust me.

Okay, I will stop posting now. It gets a bit childish, both here and on your youtube page. Best wishes.

Grisha, you're an absolute star but you going to have to wait until Evan and his agent get to the Internet cafe in order to read your generous advice.

No problem, I didn't realize you've banned them already. It's okay, I am sure other members here can find what I wrote about the dangers of overpracticing useful.

That's OK, thanks.

So, we put the popcorn away for another few weeks. All threads on this BS are locked.
