You might get a sale PC...

Only last week a scammer was jailed for trying to sell the London Ritz.

I came across a guy twice on ebay. The same top end Conde negra.
The guy advertises collection only to entice bidders and make it all seem normal and states the city where he lives. When it comes to bidding and the normal round of questions back and forth, he introduces the idea of paying through a payment agency who allegedly would hold the cash until the customer is totally satisfied with the instrument. Web site details are made available and it all seems to check out but for the fact that he now refuses to entertain his advertised preference for payment on collection.
Scam, be careful.

Escrow.com is safe.
I have an account there and used it several times (for different things).

Just beware of the copies and other services which are "offered" to you.

I had an ingenious one attempted on me by a "Dr. John Nettes" from "Scotland" whose son supposedly wanted Flamenco guitar lessons.
The son was going to be in the states for a month and wanted 3 hrs of lessons per week.
So he insisted on sending me a check in advance for way more than the cost of the lessons, and then I would deduct my money from that and send the remaining balance via Money Gram to the son's Nanny
Basically he would write me a bad check and then I would send my (good) check back to him...

I stopped hearing from him as soon as I asked for a phone # where I could reach him
I guess he didn't have a convincing enough Scottish accent.

Yes, just a couple of days ago I got an inquiry about lessons – something to the effect that " would I give him a two hour lesson every day." I deleted the email without replying. I have no idea what he was up to, but you can be sure it wasn't anything good for me.

Yeah, but only because Arash gave me the idea and suggested that he would act as the "Nanny" for a 50% cut..

I guess the guy sorta knew that the telephone area codes for the Scottish Hebrides were completely different from those of Western Nigeria..

BTW...anyway.. anyone called "Dr. John Nettes" would stand out like a sore thumb in an area of about 15,000 inhabitants, most of whom have surnames starting with "Mac" and first names like Hamish and Donald etc..

Just a phone call to the Skye local Police Station (probably staffed by 2 part timers) would have confirmed if the character was real or not!

cheers,

Ron
