Anders Elliason Guitars

Hi Folks,
After listening to a few clips from Anders and his guitars, I'm convinced that he makes some of the best Flamenco sounding guitars on the planet!
At first, after hearing of Anders, a Danish guy who moved to Granada Province to build guitars, I just thought that this was a guy living out a dream.
I thought that his "business plan" must be pretty bad, 'cos who is gonna buy a Eliasson guitar who doesn't even have a Spanish name, but just an immigrant, when they could buy local established makers with their heritage in Andalucia.
If you had to re-sell secondhand, who would want to buy it?

I've had a major rethink on my opinion of Anders since then.
This guy is a talented player as well as a master builder IMO.
Sure, he didn't do it from birth, neither did Valeriano Bernal, who got into middle age before deciding to make guitars.

I think this guy's guitars have "personality", unlike anything you are likely to find at many times the price.

At the beginning of his career in building, Anders makes every guitar count and hasn't got into a mindset of "churning out" guitars (even decent guitars) just as a business.

As everyone knows here, I don't have much money to throw around.

But I have contacted Anders to build me a guitar, 'cos I think his guitars are unique, and not "expensive".

If I had more money, I'd comission more, 'cos I seriously believe that in 10 to 15 years time an early "Eliasson" will be considered a "great" guitar to have, like early Arcangel Fernadez etc...

cheers

Ron

Oups... Sunday morning on the forum.

Thanks a lot Ron. That was really some very nice words and they made me feel very happy. I really dont know what to say, so I'll just leave by this, and go upstairs to build and listen to some music.

Nice playing
Anders

You will be most welcome in the Valley and that's not a million miles from a dream I have sometimes

As soon as I have the deposit, I am ordering a guitar from Anders too. Good call Ron.

Anders,
Just out of curiosity, what prices do you start from for a basic blanca guitar? When the time comes to upgrade (at least a good few months away yet) I was considering a Rodriguez or Pedro De Miguel. But if your guitars are as good as everyone says, I see no reason why "an Elliason" shouldn't make a suitable alternative.

I do agree with that. LOL

My flamenca 2A is 1300,- euros, and a standard Blanca starts from 1600,-

I should have my official website up very soon, with price and a lot of info on my building. I will post here when its ready.

To the rest of you guys. Thanks a lot for your kind words. Its realy highly appreciated and it warms my hart.

I've been thinking the same thing guys

Ander's entry level Blanca comes in at 900 quid, and I believe that was the guitar he played in one of his recent clips (the Granainas?).

900 quid for a hand built-to-order guitar that sounds that good? That's still in the intermediate factory price range over here - about the same price as the Burguet 2AF, the Cashimira 105, the top of the range Alhambra and a couple of others. You'd have to double that kind of money to buy hand built.

The trouble is I would just have to sell things to finance this

Of course, you know what happens when demand increase but supply is fixed .... prices can only go up.

Well, I'm ovewhelmed. But thats a nice feeling.

The thing is though, that my 2A, the cheap model, is not really a order guitar. It's something I build when I have time. I'm going to build one this spring, but cannot say when the next one after that will be. I used one of these on the Granaina soundclip, and also on the first bulerías clip.

This with prices...

Yes they will go up, but slow and easy. I still have to establish myself as a name, and I need that little extra touch in the woodworking. The instrument itself, is now at a very stable level. I think I can say that there's a very high consistency.

But. housing in Spain is going up some 16 - 18% a year , so Spanish guitars, not just mine wil be more expensive.

Darn it, and my dream guitar just gets more expensive as the Euro rises, especially since the Singapore dollar's rather weak compared to it. So you guys who can sell stuff to finance an Anders guitar, don't you dare complain, I myself don't even have anything to sell to finance a cheaper guitar.

What? Anders isn't Spanish!? Sheesh I'm slow.. But he's great player, and an even better maker! Just out of curiosity, how long have you been building guitars? Maybe you could add some info on youself on the site.
