nice.

specially considering the fact that the interest for flamenco in internet is decresing constantly since years.

this is not so promising data, but a fact:

flamenco

http://www.google.com/trends?q=flamenco

flamenco guitar

http://www.google.com/trends?q=flamenco+guitar&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0

(btw, interesting that iran is no.1 country, searching for term "flamenco guitar" in google )

Not sure you can say that. I checked Apple computer and that has seen a decrease since 2004 - which is a bit counter intuitive, it seems they are everywhere.

So what I would want to know is how that number is calculated, and what it represents.

it represents the number of searches for a search term, which is searched and typed in, in google.

and it is quite representative, because nearly everyone everywhere in the world, uses google.

Hey Arash,

That could be just because folk have found what they are looking for, bookmarked it and don't need to search it anymore.

(57% of people say that at least 85% of other people are 38% incorrect in their analysis of 100% of the data.... + or- 2% )

cheers,

Ron

given the popularity of the genre in Iran it doesn't surprise me as much as Vietnam being second on that list! perhaps it's the new paradise for flamenco after japan, we should all go and teach there :)

The fact Vietnam is second on the list makes this data highly suspect!!!

Look at some early stats for foroflamenco

Back in 2004 it took 282 posts to get 3382 views for Todd's latest buleria

In 2009, Flamenco-lessons.com turns 2 gets 6438 views with 220 posts. They can't all be bots!

OK, I looked at only a few but the trend seems to be there from a quick look.

So the forum is getting more popular at least.

i guess it depends on what part you go to. i went to the south a long time ago. im sure things have gotten better. my brother loves going there on vacation. apparently, you can basically live there for a month for 100 bucks.

Agreed. I asked my brother about this as he runs a publishing and creative ad agency in Saigon and he said exactly the same as you, that it was highly suspect. He publishes an English magazine there and is about to publish a Vietnamese Music newspaper, so he has a good idea of what's going on. It would be great if flamenco did get popular over there though as it would be great to organise a few tours, a good excuse to spend time over there. I love the place.

Well,.. I have no idea. I have no explanation for so many new members. Maybe somewhere in the world started a boom of flamenco again? Maybe they opened import of flamenco CDs to china? :.)

It's January! New years resolutions, maybe.

Just like the local gym is packed in January but once people get paid at the end of the month they all go back to the pub leaving the gym empty until May when they suddenly panic and realise they're going on holiday in a few weeks and they're fat.

Or maybe it's just the UK and USA governments keeping an eye on us, make sure we're behaving.
