Counting Rondeña in 4s

Hey all,

so, learning a rondeña to accompany a choreography, no singing. I've always counted rondeñas in 3s and there's a rhythmic section at the end that feels very much like a 6/8 to me with the feet doing eighths.

The dancer told me she learned to count that same part in 4/4 with the feet doing triplets, so her "4" is my "and 6". The dancer giving the workshop told my dancer it's typical in rondeña to switch between a 3 beat and a 4 beat. It counts out both ways, though in 4s it doesn't groove as much.

Can a rondeña be in 4s? I've heard a granadina switch to 4s, but it was a falseta inbetween cante libre. I've never heard the traditional rondeña in 4s...

its in 6..... but it could be possible that she has a tanguillo feel going on that needs that 4 over 6 feel.
