4 finger rasguedos-Tone Production

About 4 finger rasguedos and getting the best tone production

There is different variations of the 4 finger rasguedo

my question is on a particular one that i see in different pieces like tangos or sevillanas

the pattern like in a 3/4 beat pattern

i(upstroke)-i(downstroke)----1 st beat

i(downstroke)- x- a- m -i (downstroke) --2nd beat (4 finger rasguedo)

i(upstroke)- i(downstroke) --3 beat

The 4 finger rasguedo there is starting with 1 down stroke and then immediate going to pinky -a- m -i

how do you do i downstroke followed by x--a --m --i, all downstrokes

do you flex all the fingers or like when the index downstrokes the pinky gets immediately ready to hit the strings

which is a opposite direction movement?

You want a shotgun style clear sound of each finger

what is the best way to approach this rasguedo?

Well in my insignificant opinion. I would say practice SLOWLY

That is the key, concentrate on form not speed, and the goal will be building tension from the ball of the palm needles to say dont form too much tension, that can cause serious damage at first your pinky will barely be audible compared to the index and middle finger

so form a fist and make sure that your fingers/nails catch on the "meaty" part of your palm. and of course your thumb is an anchor on the guitar string.

Please stop me if you know this already.

With this fist start with I in this case and follow the order x-a-m-i.

I hope I answered your question if not well....too bad.

Just kidding I am sure someone else here will
