Favorite albums?

Hola amigos! I've got a lot of time to listen to music this summer while school's out but I've found surprisingly few really great new flamenco albums. So I think it's time for another "favorite albums" thread to get the best of them out there

For starters, here's my list of all-time personal classics (no particular order, probably missing some, or some that shouldn't be there, but oh well!):

Manolo Sanlúcar - Tauromagia
Camarón - La Leyenda del Tiempo
PdL - Almoraima
Emilio Maya - Temple
Vicente Amigo - Ciudad de las Ideas
Enrique Morente - Omega
Estrella Morente - Mi Cante y un Poema
Gerardo Núñez - Andando el Tiempo (close second, Jucal)
Armik - Flamenco Passion (kidding!!)
Ricardo - Madera Sonora
Tomatito - Paseo de los Castaños

Any of these you don't have should be promptly bought and enjoyed!

What would everyone else put as the albums they can't live without?

Anything that says Poveda or Chicuelo somewhere on the cover.

That being said the most recent Poveda/Chicuelo team-up, Cante i Orquestra is AMAZING.

Hi Ramparts

Nice to see two of Harold's recordings on your list.

I recently bought a triple album, from 1999, called Aire de Jerez. Each Cd is from a different family, The Zambos, Moneos and De La Morena. We've had it playing non stop in the car ever since, Harold drives and I practise my compás. I totally recommend it !

I've said before but my other favourite is a two CD set called ' Los Gitanos canta Lorca' I never tire of that one. Camerón's "Leyendo del Tiempo" is on there, and it always makes me laugh as it rushes along. Harold is filming a documentary about this track, travelling all over and recording different versions, Rafa De Utrera in Amsterdam with a full orchestra, and Duquende in Barcelona. He was due to interview Tomatito in Almería but that has been postponed Still it will be an interesting documentary when it is done.

Did you ever get a copy of Al Kantara ? I was thinking it would be great for your radio show. Paco himself, yes that one, said it was the best ever Andalusi /flamenco fusion record he had ever heard. The production company want to rerelease it but if not we will have to pirate it

Harold's making a documentary about La Leyenda del Tiempo?? You have to let us know when that's done

Is Al Kantara the one you told me I had to get at Carmen de las Cuevas? I think that was near the end of my stay and I didn't have time to get it, unfortunately. Any chance it can be acquired...hmm...by other means?

Great lists, I will be finding those you posted. I don't listen to many different flamenco artists, but my favorites are:

Paco Peña - Arte y Pasion, Fabulous Flamenco (his Taranta here is beyond words) and Misa Flamenca

Paco de Lucia - Almoraima, El Duende Flamenco de

Gerardo Nuñez - Cruce de Caminos

Vicente Amigo - Fuente de lo jondo

that album is amazing, something really cool about Paco his sound, the compositions its like a hommange to all the great players of yester year.

i really like Rafael requeni's compositions, when i read through like some Transcriptions i can really feel his dedication to the art of flamenco.

for me i love the albums where its often solo guitar played to the max serranito also is amazing, i like the less processed recordings and the play too the max virtuosity !
