MY NAME IS CARLOS, I'M NEW AT THIS FORUM... ANYWAY I WANTED TO POST A BULERIA AND A TARANTA OF V.AMIGO(MY FAVORITES) FOR YOU TO CHECK ON THEM AND MAKE COMMENTS ON THE SOUND, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME WITH ANY COMMENTS TO csotoperez@berklee.net
I listened to the buleria, and I want to note two things -Rhythm! Buleria (as well as lots of other forms) stands or falls with it, and I regret to say your version falls. Try out a metronome, or a compas loop. -Your sound is nice and clear, but I missed the gitano punch to it. Lots of times, flamenco is a gitano smacking his fist on the table, demanding attention and insisting 'this is how it is, and no way else'. Even lyrical falsetas have a iToma! -sense to it, if you understand what I mean. In popular terms, try to implement a bit of the 'my way or the highway attitude'. Demand your audience and punch it what you have to say.
Still nicely done, and thanks for sharing. Are you originally a classical guitarist?
Hi Carlos, Wecome to our Forum! I liked your upload...nice fluid playing and dynamics. Good stuff! Whereabouts are you from and how long have you been playing?
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. I'LL WORK THE RYTHM AS YOU SAID. WHEN I PLAYED I DIDN'T NOTICE IT BUT MANY PEOPLE HAVE MADE SIMILAR COMMENTS AFTER HEARING IT... THAT'S WHAT BULERIA IS ALL ABOUT NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT. ABOUT THE ''MY WAY, GITANO WAY...'' I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BUT I CAN ONLY PERCEIVE IT IN CANTE, ON A GUITAR I CAN TOO, BUT ONLY WHEN I'M LOOKING AT THE PERFORMER'S FACE... CAN YOU TELL ME HOW IT'S TRANSLATED INTO THE GUITAR PLAYING? LIKE IN THE PICADOS, ACCENTS, RASGUEADOS MAYBE?? I'M ORIGINALLY ROCK/JAZZ GUITARIST AND NOW TRYING TO BE FLAMENCO, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO GO CLASSICAL SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE. I'VE PLAYING GUITAR SINCE I WAS 12, NOW I'M 19 SO THAT'S 7 YEARS, BUT I GOT INTO FLAMENCO WHEN I WAS 18 AFTER HEARING A PACO AND MANOLO SANLUCAR DUET, THEY ARE AMAZING! ANYWAY I'M FROM CHILE BUT RIGHT NOW I'M IN BOSTON STUDYING AT BERKLEE. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOU COMMENTS AND THE WELCOME, I'LL WORK ON THE THINGS YOU TOLD ME SO I HOPE I CAN POST BETTER STUFF!!
