!Flamenco Revolución! under the direction of Maya de Silva, amalgamates traditions of Spanish Flamenco with new work of an American flavor. Influences from contemporary and ethnic dance, as well as spoken word and group song provide an unusual, thought-provoking and entertaining performance. Maya de Silva, Olyda La Cubana, Cynthia La Mora, dance, Carmen Estevez, cajón & cante. Flamenco Ensemble is a year-round class which allows Flamenco Latino’s most devoted cante and guitar students to gain experience performing cante pa’ lante and cante pa’ tras (solo songs, or accompanying the dance). Basilio Georges’ arrangements for both rhythmic and free style cantes ensure that the guitarists properly showcase the soloist. The dances performed by Aurora Reyes’ students and !Flamenco Revolución! are set in a detailed way so that singers and guitarists provide both support and musical variation.
