The Democratic Republic of Zimbabwe.

Well, nobody has mentioned it here yet and you know I hate to bring up political stuff...but as a Glasgwegian, I have to say..."Hey wait a wee minute here pal...!"

Today a banned BBC correspondant mentioned that he'd just bought a loaf of bread from a market for 1,000,000,000 Zimbabwean Dollars and received 300,000,000 in change!
Then a spokesman for Robert Mugabe, though defeated, said that there will be a new election and that this time the full force of the state with Army and Police will be employed and that this time "Bobby" will be shown to be clearly "the people's choice".

That's Democracy for ya in Zimbabwe!
God save us all!

cheers,

Ron

Zimbabwe is more democratic than the UK. There even the dead get to vote.

Well, speaking of irony in the name of The People, this was a good one today:

The 34-year-old had been held under house arrest in his flat at the Freedom City complex for more than 200 days before his detention in December. During this time he made a video diary showing the intense scrutiny he was subjected to. His wife and baby daughter remain under house arrest.

It's funny, we had that same inflation rate in Ukraine at some point. You had a salary of about 20 million, and the bread was like 500,000 in Ukrainian money. Ridiculous.

But Africa is messed up beyond belief. It's weird that they can't get their stuff together. South Africa is the only place it's working,. and that's because brits are still ruling the place.

And the thing that gets me most is when left wing in here in US goes Bush must help Darfur!! Bush must help ...! It's their mess, they need to clean it up. You can never help a bum get out of poverty by giving him money.

If they unite, they'll kill each other even more, imagine the power struggle.
