I don't know who Malmsteen and Impelliteri are...but if they play this style then I don't wanna know!

Jeez, I'd rather be forced to listen to Rap or Hip-Hop!

Here's another beaut from the same stable...

Do people really sit and practise this stuff??

(Maybe they could try El Tempul?)

cheers,

Ron

This guy would be great for bulerias--- the cajon player would have splints in his hands and any dancer could end up being in the final of the worlds strongest women!!

It's a good job I don't work in a guitar store Tom.
If a guy came in and asked to try out an expensive guitar and started doing that to it, I'd chuck him out on his ear!

cheers,

Ron

Well...errrr...this is one guy who is probably correct when he says his girlfriend can't do it as good as he can himself - if you catch my drift?

The 'Glasgow Kiss' works best for these kinds of customers.

I do agree Tom...
Does tend to calm down those customers who are a bit lippy on being asked to leave the premises....

Hey easy now.
Rap and hip hop are quite different.

Its not all pimps and ho's and guns and bling.

I'd sooner listen to decent "Hip hop" anyday than some dude jiggling his arm around in an attempt to break some fantasy world record.

I often try to keep up with what the "shred guys" are doing and into, because when I was a young teen, I really liked some of that music. Anyway, pretty much the fastest guy that, most of those serious about fast picking on guitar have seen, is Shawn Lane. At least with actually playing musical notes in rhythm. Honestly, this guy is so fast it stops sounding like music when he gets to that speed, more like outer space or something. He trys to use it "tastefully" in the context of jazz fusion, but sounds pretty crazy. Anyway, doubtful anyone will beat his speed, or if it really matters anyway.

Someone mentioned Impelliteri. Sure it is easy to make fun of these guys that make speed exercises and call it music, but I am always impressed by some kids who take the time to work on things like that. Like this kid for example:

lol i used to play those pieces... well the impelliteri one i used to play, the shawn lane one... diff story lol.

i think everybody here probably was a shredder at some point. i mean as a kid, who wouldn't want to be the fastest guitar player ever???? luckily we all grew up and eschewed our electrics in favor of a pointed stick... im mean, flamenco guitar. lol

RE: This is really weird (in reply to Ricardo

these people lack taste...i wonder why they play an instrument if they don't care about musicality...
music's supposed to bring pleasure to your ears, it should bring you to another world, like a good book would do, even if for a shorter period of time...
i used to and still like good rock music, good jazz, but this is totally pointless...if they were used as practice material i would be more forgiving but playing this **** in a concert is wrong and shameful, and not just on the "artist" himself but his audience as well...
but then if i think deeper, i think maybe it's still better than the type of disco that's basically a bass note acting like a metronome...

I always put this guy in a class by himself. Not only is he fast but his compositions were always tasteful compositions. Not just the usual 'see how fast I can play' licks.

@Tom: I dont think they would say the same thing. I mean they are dorks, no because they play with picks, but because they have a totally wrong attitude to their own playing. I am just counting the countless hours they must have spent to achieve this great status of beeing able to play crap falsetas faster than others. Like they were saying: "look i play the same crap as you, but FASTER!"

Hi Deniz,
I like how in that one, even when the guy slows WAY down in the middle of it and plays some sort of chromatic thing...it's really sloppy and terrible!
And then he speeds back up to light speed!

I'm sure he wouldn't be very pleased if ToddK or Ricardo suggested he tries a metronome!

The stuff Ricardo uploaded was at least recognisable Music, though not my taste.

cheers,

Ron

The fella with the clock.
It all depends on the altitude he's sitting at. The higher we go, time itself speeds up so things are faster.
Just a thought

Jim, even at eight thousand metres ( the height of the highest mountains ) the relative increase in the distance to the earths core is not so great. So even if the earth was revolving at a pace that made relativistice effects significant ( which it isn't ) then the increase in these would be minimal (instead of nil which is what they are).

Any way these guys don't play so fast

PS. Loving the guitar !!
