A-G-F-G-A-Bf-C-D-C-Bf-A-C-Bf That's a killer for me! Yeah that is tough. A twister for the rh hand fingers to alternate. I usually mess up at least one note from that. quote:
I'm not of course 100% sure that's how it's done but Paco de Lucia has a single note melody (every 2 beats - 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 2, 4 & 6) that stands out from the rasgueado and this is a way it can be done. Cool idea, and sounds good when he does at medium speed. Problem is the taps are not always the same like he does it. Only the first half compas like that, then the taps are on 7,10, 1 and should be 4. I am pretty sure the way I did it is the way (i mean the slow version because I still can't do it at tempo). quote:
I just checked Ricardos vid again and it looks like he does a full compas up to 10 and then starts the falseta on 11. Yeah sorry forgot to do that tricky spot slow. it was tough because you start it on the contra (between 10 and 11) so it feels synchopated, and you have NO TIME AT ALL to prepare if you choose to do a rasgueado on 10. The way I "cheat" on it is to do that open D string as a pull off rather than double thumb stroke. down-up-pull off, down-up-C note, down-up-Bb note, etc.

Good input everyone! I'm not crazy about arty-farty review programs, but there is a really good program on BBC Radio 4 called "Book Club", where guests are given a book to read and think about, then discuss it on the program. (Note that the guests are "given" a book to read and don't "choose" one! ) The books range from novels to revisiting important modern Classics like "Catch22" etc. The guests are made up from writers (some famous) and generally people who love writing and reading books. They then discuss the book in "technical terms", like the development of the characters, the prose style, the choice of words in particular sentences, the "mechanics", the idiosyncracies of the author etc.... Fascinating IMO! That's what I like about all the knowledgeable people on the Forum taking a close look at an old Classic (which obviously has not been completely deciphered) and forming a view on it in the 21st century. Sure, everybody has to get on with their own day to day development and their own goals, but I think it's fun that all these different ideas on technique etc are coming in. It's quite a while till December...so who knows who will eventually crack the "ultimate" Foro Tempul!! cheers, Ron

ORIGINAL: Pimientito quote:
Hope that helps. Thats the bit i find OK. I cheat too with pull offs (I dont think its cheating...it sounds good and is more comfortable). Its the start bit. If you put the same bit at the start as the turnaround bit in the middle(ie. just play that phrase twice) it seems to fit better......or just start on 12 with the 2cd pull off like this ------------ ---3------- ---3------- ---2^0--- ----------3 ----------- Its sort of cheating but it fits! OK, but that is not really what is played there starting from count 12. It is alzapua, you strum the chord 233, down then up. Then the 3(C), then the down up again but with d string open, then 1st fret Bb, then down up again, then G on 3rd fret 6th string, then down and up, then Bb (first fret) then A open (thumb bounces). And the rest I wrote above. So i do only ONE pull off in the beginning, and technically you should bounce the thumb there again. This is really hard to get across verbally...maybe I will make another vid slow... Ricardo
