Simon, I cant believe you went to Poligono/Almanjáyar when you were in Granada !! When I first came here to live I was told quite simply not to go there, not even drive through it, and if you ever find yourself there by mistake hope to God your car don't break down. Well we were invited to visit the music workshop and we drove in and the car broke down. We even had to leave the car over night and returm the next day and thought we would come back to a skeleton but no. I now go there all the time and dont even think about it. Though onec I walked out of a lock-up where we had been looking for a wheelbarrow to find three youngsters with guns pointed at us. I was with Andrés and we just kept walking while they watched us. There's an amazing network, I drive into the neighbourhood and before I hit the big anti tank misssile bumps people in the estate know I am coming. I think they use pigeon post or maybe its Israel's talking parrot. What always amazes me is the sound of horse and cockerals coming from the high rises blocks while the people all pull their sofas out to sit in the street. Did you know they are surrounded on ALL sides by Guardia Civil buildings. Also people have now decided that its prime real estate and they are slowly trying to move the Gitanos out, offering them money, though not a lot, to leave. Such a shame as it has not been long since they got rid of the mafia elements, done up the buildings and rehoused old and needy people here. It will be ironic when the Poligonos of cities became the future des res. So Simon I rant on, how come you know the estates ? abrazo kate
