Arash,
Rule number one....don't take your guitar to parties.

Seriously though, EVERY Flamenco player has had this experience of being encouraged to take you're guitar along, then after a couple of minutes folk start to lose attention and begin talking and walking away. Very deflating to the ego.

But if folk ask you then it's good to have a few short but entertaining genuine flamenco pieces practised up.
You see the pros do this when they have a guest spot on a variety show on TV.
Nothing too heavy or complicated, plenty of rasgueados and Spanishy picado (not necessarily fast) and make it look complicated.

Florian just mentioned Juan doing Tarantas and the standing ovation!
A more trad style of Alegrias goes down well as folk can sort of clap to it.
A simple Guajiras with nice chords too.
Rumba doesn't just have to be G. Kings (which is actually pretty difficult to do with just one guitar)
Keep em short and sweet with good rhythm and not too complicated.

Keep the Siguiriyas, Soleares, Bulerias etc for your Flamenco friends.

True for the most part - I got a big ovation for Bulerias in a restaurant advertising me as a classical guitar player once though, didn't even have percussion either. If you don't do too many complex syncopations and put enough funky stuff with rasgueados in there non-flamencos can enjoy it.

Ahhhh, then you need a tremolo, preferably with the melody of "Spanish Romance" or "Love Story". Take some eye drops before you start playing so it looks like you've been crying. If she asks tell her you lost your true love in a car wreck and you don't know whether you will ever be able to love again. Then you should score.

i hate when people make a suspiciously open outcry for criticism in an attempt to disguise they're own

Depends on the type. If she's a softy herself don't worry about that, you can act as gay as you want. Otherwise you may wanna take the macho approach, telling the same story but acting like "I don't give a d@mn, noone will ever saddle this stallion..."

Joking aside......you are right Ron.
When i remember how my interest for flamenco and my first attempts started, then i understand all those people who cant do anything with all these bulerias, seguiriya, Solea , etc. stuff.....not to mention if you play musically complex falsetas in them....

I've never been a team player either. I've never felt the need to belong to one group (or team or style of music or religion or school of thought). There is always a price to be paid for this choice. When I was young I was not conscious that I was making the decision not to belong since it was so natural for me, and I was surprised by the pain that being true to myself caused me.

Then in my teens I became proud of my aloofness it and felt that it gave me the right to feel superior and to treat people with contempt. The memory so many many petty betrayals and exclusions and associated pain made it easy for me to discount the feeings, intelligence and potential for change in others.

Now Todd, on my better days, I am occasionally an adult. I realise that I am no more deserving of respect than the next man.

i would,but i have no motivation. i think i'll get out my air popper. that thing is friggin sweet. its like a jet engine shooting popcorn at you at mach 4. plus, i can put whatever i want on it

some popular mixing items:

soy sauce (low salt)

cheese (cheddar, finely grated)

gummy bears

small children (also finely grated)

chocolate

chili powder and paprika

fruit, clementines especially

stray dogs

yesterday's chinese leftovers

etc...

Greivences? Not lately. If you let anger in to your life you deal in anger and it goes from one thing into the next. In fact it can become like a constant state of disillusionment and sarcasim that is waiting in the wings for you. And you may blame it on others, but it is only a matter of compliance to the anger and greivences of others. It is up to you to not comply. You have the power within to see things any way you may choose to percieve, and that is a matter of accepting your condition as a matter of change and constancy. You make the choice and ultimately you have the power to choose when things aren't going your way. Always do what is right and you will be happy!

I hate it when people give themselfs too much credit and think that they know someones intessions behind a certain upload or post and got it all figured out

I hate it when they see a good thread , say its "gay" because god forbid should someone else have a good idea or get a good response for a thread or take a litlle attention away from them for a sec. but then as soon as the thread takes off, they join in, but not to contribuite , to infect it with ugly,unecesary, unhelpfull, unwanted and unapreciated vibes.

I hate it when people play flamenco with a pick, get to a certain level and think they can be ****s to everyone , think that the common sence, and good manners, or just simple compasion for fellow guitarists who practice just as hard and work just as hard even if they havent been doing it as long dont applie to them anymore.
I hate it when they label you a egomanic because you refuse to be made to feel like an idiot, or like crap intentionally to put you in your place

I also hate it when this people who claim to be without ego refuse to accept that you hate theyr playing as much as they do yours, and assume that it must be out of spite.

and your respect for theyr opinion is exactly the mirror image of theyr opinion towards what you do. you got to give it to get it.

also hate that i cant figure out the block option

does that just work on individual posts on you can just block once and you dont have to ever see anything from a certain member again ?

hey, i think i add a certain element of sillyness that is necessary at times. i know a fair share about flamenco and i just choose not to say much about it because ricardo, flo, and all of the others who know more get there first and more accurately lol.
