RE: Scales (in reply to Martin

Buleria dosent really require that many long picado scales (mibe the typical cierre but that's short so i dont have that many scales to give you), anyway its not about that very rarely do you get to do picado in bulerias because its so rithmicaly based unless you have 2 guitarists then one of you has a litlle more freedom, practice your modes i guess.

heres one run i like but just as an exercise, i havent yet dared doing it in class

hope this helps a litlle right click "and save as"

ps. i just noticed i kind of rushed when i wrote this and forghot about it, it goes all the way back down to where it started, ignore the 3rd line, just do it up to the second line , and go back down using the exact same notes but in reverse.

I think this is from Enrique Bermun*ez from Ballet national

RE: Scales (in reply to Florian

well I am affraid you going to have to thank me now

i dont normally demand "thank you" , only when i spend 30 minutes on something for somemone else that i gain absoluteley nothing out off doing, unlike most people, giving dosent make me feel good about myself , i feel nothing, i could go either way

i know u seen the tabs cause i saw your name up top, did you like em or not ? is this what you meant ?

I am playing with you ... well sort off ( I still want my "thank you" )..i get alot more pleasure out of taking risks and saying things one wouldnt normally expect someone to say out loud, just to see what the reaction is..
now I am starting to feel something

eg. last year i used the Bulletin feature in Myspace to tell people to come and wish me Happy Birthday

and last week i told a class full of beginner dancers to not buy me anything or make any fuss about it beeing my birthday on the 5th of october.

they were shocked as most of them have only known me for about 4 weeks, 1 class a week, but the look on theyr faces was priceless to me and i am probably even going to get a botlle of wine on friday otherwise they all gonna be dancing out of compas.

RE: Scales (in reply to Florian

about the buleria scale, if you wanted to use in a acctual buleria, you would probably just play it up to the end of second line, without coming back, its a very el viejin, jesus de rosario thing to do. its gold acctualy, theres not that much written in flamenco about scales and cano roto style is even more of a uncovered subject.

i might do a small recording of what i mean later, see what happens

I dont ussualy make it a habbit about winging about prices.
there is that new El Viejin book, if you got that kind of money and spending it dosent effect you cool, i live alone pay all the rent and bills and everything on my own to me the price is just ridiculous not to mention is broken up into 3 different litlle books 3 palos per book so u got to pay for it 3 times.

dont get me wrong i love el viejin, i love to help the artist as much as the next guy but if its going to mean i have to starve after, id rather take my chances and transcribe him myself.

just a matter of time before it goes down on price..it have too cause noone else i know atm got it either, making a book noone can afford to buy makes no sence to me. I am generelasing a litlle but most of the guitarists who would wanna play or would attempt play his type of music, would have to invest alot of time into practicing, meaning chances are they dont have a full time job meaning chances are that money is tight.

its not exactly brain sience recognising your market

sorry i am coming across a litlle bitter i know (il get over it on my own) just fustrated atm that i cant afford it and since i am saving for the guitar atm and paying for it after this year it might be well out of my reach for the next year and a half i cant afford to make any more sacrifices for flamenco even if i wanted to...
I am so sick of sacrificing, seems like all i ever do is sacrifice sometimes.

but some of you might have it even tougher than me so i am sorry if i seem like me me i realise we all have our own strugles and we all just see our own problems.

oh well i had my winge ...that feels better , i didnt know i had those feelings inside me.

RE: Scales (in reply to Florian

I suspect that some of the flamencos have out of control agents playing hardball with publisher on their behalf. The mark up for the Vicente book is prohibitive too.

It is a shame. To any publishers out there I spend SO MUCH MORE when I feel the price is fair. For me it is interesting to read on a computer screen but compared to tucked up in bed with a real book or with one in front of me on my music stand it stinks. Can't really do valid study that way.

All that being said the prices of classical pieces in modern style can be real expensive too, you could pay over ten quid for a recent piece by Leo Brower possibly only four or five pages of it too. Maybe this is where they are getting their pricing scheme. Perhaps with the level of international interest that there is in flamenco and the increased amounts of technical know how around they are looking for a long term market of professional and semi pro players. Low intensity sales and high shelf life. I can see how this would play well to players who have long deserved recognition for their compositional skills.

Blah blah.

not if noone is buying

i am just curious now, does anyone here own the books ? I dont know anyone, noone that has it ( i wasent asking them to try and get a illegal copy or anything.. ..... .... shut up ! you dont know me !! dont judge me )...and i know quite a few people.

heeeeeeeyyyy. the best way to speed up your picado is to record everything you do really slow. then use your software to speed it up.

or you could practice. transcribe pieces with picado in them
transcription is the best way to go, because then not only do you get stuff to practice, but you also get ear training and technique covered all at once.

then, play while you poo.

RE: Scales (in reply to Guest

better yet, you could record all of your recodings playing as fast as you can....and tell everybody you were playing it slow....

that way they'd think that you have a giant supercharged electromagnetic field around you which somehow caused an event in the time space continueum that superrefracted reality and reasonable speeds thus producing your lightning fast arpeggios which to you seem slow.

they don't have to know its a lie lol
