RE: Outrage at Glasgow Airport (in reply to Ron.M

I'm sorry, maybe I'm completely fooled by all the news coverage and it's all US propaganda but aren't the muslim extremists killing other muslims? What about this whole sunni vs. shia stuff, what about extremists hiding among civilians and thus having kids die from gunfire aimed at extremists?

With US, yes, everyone knows it's not the democracy but oil that drives the invasion but at the same time invasion doesn't justify terror all over the world.

Someone in the thread said that we should welcome muslims everywhere and make them feel like they are one of us. As I said earlier 9/11 attackers were foreign students probably getting assistanships in the university (education paid), the guys in Glasgow were doctors... !!! So doesn't seem to me that they are so mistreated. And if they were, I hate to sound so cliche, but you know they could always go back home!?

There are things that I hated about Russians' treatment of Ukrainian people but I or my parents didn't go bomb anyone.

Yep, that they are. Both in Iraq AND coincidentally when they blow things up over here. In Iraq, I think various groups are battling for power. Over here, its apparently just to teach other "Moderate Muslims" a lesson for not supporting the Jihad.

Is that right Arash? Its just what I heard, so it may not be true...

I wanted to call them animals but then I thought animals are so much better than that, and it would be unfair to animals to associate them with these monsters. Maybe it is a mental illness.

Wow, terrorists are animals, huh?

Ok i have a suggestion to make: We take all the terrorists in one place.
Then we take all the people, who think terrorists should be tortured, killed etc, and who think that terrorism has nothing to do with occupation, and put them in the same place. We give both sides enough weapons to kill each other. Its good for both sides, they get what they want, dont they?.

Then MAYBE, we have a clean and better world.

See thats the thing:

IMO its really DEMAGOGUES that are at work here. See Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demagogy

Demagogues are preying on the weaker members of society and the mentally unbalanced. They LOVE controversy, and use it to their advantage.

I remember seeing a figure from a "so-called" political group give a speech, and the way he TWISTED and MANIPULATED the facts to inflame the crowd was sinister and downright devious. I'm not sure how many people realised he was doing it, but I could see that some members of the crowd were quite affected by what he said.

You really hit the nail on the head with the "mental illness" thing, IMO. Some of these people are vulnerable individuals. I can't show any proof of it, but apparently "brainwashing" and other mind-control techniques are sometimes employed.

Not that they aren't employed elsewhere in society, and these are the ONLY vulnerable individuals.

But I'm sure if you Google it for long enough you'll probably find some facts.

I DON'T think terrorists are animals. They are just BEHAVING like them, for one reason or another. If they were "animals" I could accept their actions- animals have no conscience as far as I can tell. But to say that they are in "a different state of mind" to the majority of society would be more accurate, IMO.

False. If you look at Palestinians or other nationalities, the "terrorists" there are not weak, they are even the only strong element in that society. Without weaponing, they would be vulnerable, and probably couldnt even survive 5 minutes, when there is a whole frigging ARMY of Israel few kilometers away. They have no army, so they have to hit the state in its weakest point, which is also the most uneffective, i.e. with terrorist attacks.

If you count them both as violence, and they are such, they are BOTH wrong!

Or one could say, the society is in "a different state of mind" to the minority.

for one reason or another

Well when you dont know the reason, WHY DO YOU MAKE HYPOTHESES ABOUT IT?

If you are deluded enough to think you'll get to Heaven (or its equivalent) by blowing yourself AND others up, then YES, IMO, that makes you "weak". At least on some level.

This is their JUSTIFICATION to make an attack, but thats not the reason, or the purpose of the attack. The purpose of the attack is obviously to harm the Israeli state.

The "Isreali State" is a rich and tough one. Hell, didn't the Israeli military invent the "Uzi" sub-machine gun?! No, its the Israeli PEOPLE that are harmed... because their hearts and minds are turned against those who inflict violence upon them, whilst their governors dig their heels in and say "We won't tolerate this!" then retaliate, and the whole cycle repeats itself.

Violence begets violence. Its been the same since the Bible days.

Yeah, in former USSR we had exactly the same thing, "1984", brainwahsed society, when Stalin died hundreds of thousands of people went in the burial procession, and we all know what Stalin did. It's just that in USSR it was more "civil", the car came at night, picked a man from the bed and sent to Syberia "without a right to correspond with family", which meant you died.

In Muslim states there is no organized rule to do that, so people are kidnapping and killing people in the marketplaces. Very said. But it's even more sad when they spread this crap in a civilized world.

Your post is absolutely hypocritical. You are trying to dismiss my point with nothing to actually add. Did you think about what you were saying at all or do you just love the childish backclapping rhetoric of the lowest common denominator so much that you thought you were being clever?

D.

Ok , I was just trying to be polite.

But since you choose to insult me, let me put it this way:
I think your argument was crap.

By comparing any "us and them " situation with the holocaust, you kill the discussion, because in fact you're suggesting they are nazi's. So they shut up because noone wants to be a nazi, of course.
It's what loud mouth politicians have done for years in Holland. Even now some politicians are compared with nazi's because they have to take measures against illegal immigrants.

because, as i said: "They (the terrorists) have no army, so they have to hit the state in its weakest point, which is also the most uneffective, i.e. with terrorist attacks.", and the people ARE the weakest point.

I understand what you're saying, but we mustn't be so quick to generalise... in many Muslim states there IS organised rule. And many Muslim states ARE very civilized. There was a time when the Arabic World was considered possibly the greatest civilization of its era, and we owe a good amount of what we know today to them during that era in particular.

IMO different societies go through different phases, and civilizations rise and fall and rise again. Just like that. Its all nothing in the grand scheme of things. Hey, have I posted my photos of cute animals in this thread yet? Jk... I'll spare y'all this time!

If that would be true, and it is not, there MUST be a "first" violence. And what would be the source of that?

The source of violence is a PURPOSE. Violence ITSELF is NEVER a purpose. You use violence to achieve an aim - the Palestinians use violence to build their state, the Israeli, the people AND the state, use violence to prevent the Palestinians from building a state. These two purposes exclude each other because both are nationalisms.

OK, I've had enough of this thread. Sharing a criminal act on Ron's doorstep (by doctors for goodness sake) turns into this?

The thread is locked.

Back to what unites us.
