Hi Jeff

Well an impotant difference to the super cub is that you sit side by side. (I like that.)

Great website. I understand what you say about something not being a big stretch. Fot me it was the same with starting building guitars after many years of working with instruments.

Flying is a dream of many. So far I´ve only been around in Microsoft flight sim. And I´ve always prefered small taildraggers like yours. (Cub, super cub, Maule, canuck, Beaver etc) (also some Grumman flying boats.) I´ve been virtually in the state of Washington (Emmas field) and in Alaska (Misty fjords) for many many hours. Its so relaxing.
I´ve been "grounded" for a couple of years now because its also very time consuming.

Hi -

So true about the time, plus it is expensive. But anybody that really wants to
do it, can. The hardest part is just getting started.

To become a pilot, is simple - Go to the nearest small airport, find the building
that says "Learn to fly here", walk in and say "I want to learn to fly" the rest
will happen from there. 99% of everybody I've ever talked to, get stuck at this
relatively simple step.

I have a cousin from Estonia, who grew up in near poverty in a little village.
All her life she helped her parents grow vegetables, and sell them at the
market on the weekends. I paid her way here (USA) for a three month stay over
the summer five years ago, when she was 18. She went flying with me a
lot that summer, and went with me to Oshkosh (http://www.airventure.org)
for the big airshow.

That exposure, I think really affected her, as she just graduated college with
an aviation degree, and is now working for Estonian Air, and will probably
be flying one of the big jets for SAS, or other major carriers. :) I was shocked
when I heard that was what she was doing, because her family is so poor.
However, sheer determination can take you a long way.

Jeff

I agree. Thats what taught me how to build guitars. This with the flying. Well for now it´ll have to wait. I´m moving and goiing to restore a big house plus build a new workshop.

Nice flying

wow fully old school. Notice the swing arm at the front, thats still cutting edge today. Not many bikes have this even today, and the only ones that do are very expensive exotic machines like bimoto. This bike would have been way advanced in its time.

Thats a funky bike. Is it blue? And I like the helmet.

Is that a 2 stroke water cooled engine? 3 cylinders maybe? Would be very typical Suzuki at that time.

The front looks very sophisticated. The rest of the frame not so much. I know this is not a production machine so I might be wrong, but the Japs were far superior at making engines those days, but their frames and suspensions were very poor. You could go fast, but the thing would start wobbling for sure. Scary feeling going 160kms on a Honda 750-4 and the thing starts to wobble.

Hola.

It is a twin cylinder water cooled. This is no Japanese frame. The photo was taken by a press photographer during the Ulster Grand Prix, when it was a World Championship event in the 70s. Top speed was around 260kph. The hub centre steering made it very stable in a straight line at speedover bumps.

The bike is yellow, as is the helmet.

Hola

It is a water cooled twin: the cylinders are not Suzuki, nor is the frame. Top speed was around 260 kph depending on gearing. The hub centre steering made it very stable in a straight line over bumps.

The picture was taken by a press photographer during the Ulster Grand Prix in the 70s when it was still a World Championship event.

The bike is yellow, so is the helmet.

It seems as if you were on a toilet. And a chair looks just like one.
