John, sorry I should have mentioned I noticed it in Jason's tangos free lesson. And in fandango as said.

Jason! Thanks for everything you do for us.

Man Jason, when you started this thread I was already excited as hell to download all your videos! You have me as a subscriber for sure. Videos teaching cante accompanyment - I've been wanting this for AGES! Dance accompanyment would be great too.

He is a pretty famous singer in Jerez. He has a few CDs out and works a lot with Maria del Mar Moreno.

Hey Jason, thanks a lot for posting these free lessons, thats really generous of you. just downloading scorch and quick time now. I was looking through your site while i was waiting, wow it looks really impressive. Im thinking about joining for the class's, $30 a month isnt much to spend at all. I just hope that i can be disciplined enough to benefit from the class's, on the other hand i guess you can just take it at your own pace anyway.

Considering the amount of time it would take for you to set all of this up, its clear that you love doing it. Its a bonus that you are internet/computer savvy because im sure many other great guitarists simply wouldnt have the patience to do something like this even if they did come up with the idea, or it would be one of those great ideas that just never ended up happening.

regards,
Dom

p.s good on you Arash for converting jason to the foro!

Hi Dom,
The beauty of the site is that you can take it at your own pace. Try it and if it doesn't work cancel. You won't hurt my feelings. My website may not work for everyone, but if you know your way around the internet, I think it is likely that it will help you out.
I do love my job as a teacher. I don't just do it to support my performing career. I have pretty much abandoned the idea of being a performer. I work with my wife Yaelisa and a few other artists that are dear friends. When I got my first broadband connection back in 1998 or 99, I tried this thing out. It wasn't time and I put it on a shelf. Now people trust the inernet for more and more. I think it is great to be able to help people play better. Can my website replace a great one on one "real" teacher. Probably not, but there are aspects of it that are advantagous as well.

JM

RE: Alegrias Cante Accompaniment - A... (in reply to Matic

I have had some success as a performer, mainly as an accompanist but somewhat as a soloist also. I am much more interested in teaching and audio production at the moment. My recording studio is nearly booked solid for the next year and I have found a very rewarding secondary career in it. I am still gigging weekly here in the Bay Area and that is plenty for me. I don't really know much about Eva and her Festival situation. You realise that my solo in that festival was a mistake right? Eva had told everyone that I was to do a solo, then just before the show she decided that it was running long and told me not to play. She forgot to tell the singers and they left the stage when (they thought) it was time for me to play. Chusco looked at me like WTF is going on and I told him. He looked over his shoulder to see the singers long gone. He turned back and told me, "play your ****ing solo". After the show Eva chewed my ass out for playing and the whole thing really left me feeling unappreciated. I would probably turn her down if she called me again. I teach every summer at the New World Flamenco Festival in Irvine, CA. I hope some of you can make it out this year.

Chusco was encouraging. His tone was more directed at Eva than me. Chusco has always been very supportive of me. Manuel and Antonio Malena have always been very complimentary of me as an accompanist. Flamenco is generally a pretty difficult thing to make a living with.

Hello Jason. On the commentary video to the alegrias accompanyment you mention a file with only cante to practise over. Would you mind sharing it here? I realise that it might be the sort of material you keep for the members of your site, just thought i would ask, since i'm looking at the lesson now, and a singing friend of mine was interested in learning the letra with me. having cante only would be helpful. :)
