Carved cejillas

Carved ebony with ivory trim on the left, $40.
Ebony on the right, $20.

Please comment if you like either design. I have more.

Shipping free. Return for a full refund if not happy.

The strings are soft poly-cotton blend that won't damage guitar neck finish. Pad is sueded leather.

Tony,

That carved cejilla is beautiful. $40 plus free shipping is too cheap!!!

Tom,

Thanks. I'm kind of new at this (selling on the internet). Maybe I should raise the prices. The people who have bought them have raved about the "functionality". (They don't slip, but they turn easily. I think I found just the right combination of peg reamer and shaver. I'm afraid to adjust anything!)

I really admire yours, though. All the layered veneers and inlay are spectacular. I'm thinking of trying some mother of pearl inlay next.

Tony,

I say your prices are cheap because a lot of the ones on the internet are a bit more expensive. Including the ones I sell. Granted, the ones I sell are pretty ornate with veneers and stuff, but, your handcarved one for example, took some time to make. Nice craftsmanship, and for that, you should be paid for your time and labor. I really like it and I'll have to get one for myself.

Hi Tony,

Very nice work!

Your carving style even looks "old Spanish"

BTW, tried to send you an email, but the adress arnold@gly.fsu is not working
I also tried to send you an email through the foro, maybe that will work.
If it does not work, can you send me an email, I would like to buy one.

All the best,
Peter

Sorry gerundino. My email is arnold@gly.fsu.edu

For some reason I couldn't get the "EDU" to come out on the post.

Great looking cejillas !
Question: You say they're ebony, but they look more 'brown', like rosewood. Can you please clarify ?
Thank you;
Rudy

Definitely ebony. There are occasional brown streaks, but definitely ebony, not rosewood. If you want one that is guaranteed totally black, I can probably find a piece to suit. I also have the same in boxwood with ivory trim. And I'm experimenting with designs that copy the peghead of some well-known guitars. Here are some prototypes. I'm working on others.

RE: Carved cejillas (in reply to a_arnold

I would like to eventually get a cejilla like this just for novelty, but for now I just use a Schubb C2 classical capo =)

I don't know if my opinions here may help or not, but to give you an idea of what a consumer like myself would think....

When i do buy one, I'll expect to spend between $40 and $80, which I think is quite fair. I would think a plain one, of good quality wood, should be around $40 and an ornate one with carving or inlay should be a bit higher. Your more ornate one would probably fall into what I would think would be about the $70.

So, Erik/wiseguy493 --

You agree with Tom Nunez (see above), that I should be charging you more? You could be right. A few music stores have placed quantity orders, and I am beginning to suspect their motive just might be profit. Just guessing. Even though, as we all know, musicians are too pure of heart to be concerned about such things as money.

Are you saying that the low price leads you to assume they must be low quality? If so, that's a concern. Plain or fancy, the funtionality and quality are money-back guaranteed. If there's ANYTHING about my cejillas you don't like, return for a full refund. You pay only return shipping. FYI they cost about $1.50 to send, including the bubble-padded envelope.

Maybe if I get tired of fooling with them, I'll charge more.

And yes, they are real ebony (the ones at the top of this thread). I'm doing some in boxwood now, and will post pics soon.

Shipping is still free. Even to Europe, since several of you have asked.

If anyone really insists on paying $70, I'll donate the extra $30 in your name to the Florida Home for Unemployed Guitarists. Who knows. Maybe we'll all meet there one day.

Hi All!

Today I got this two baby's ( the top two cejilla's ) with the postman!

Very nice made, very nice carved, and the other one very nice inlay.
It is perfect made with the precission of a dentist.

They are easy to use, and what i like a lot about them, ( besides the looks) it is tight with a rope, very easy and much more beatiful than a string part.

I have quite a collection now, about 12, but this are the crownjewels of the collection!

All the best to everyone!

Thanks Tony

Peter.

When I said/say this, I'm not talking about "profit" so to speak but more along the lines of getting paid for your effort, creativity and the time you spend. Especially these ones that feature the guitars head design. This is a unique idea that could be time consuming. You need to be paid for this. Anyone can make a plain old cejilla. They are a dime a dozen. The unique ones you offer, that's a different story.

Just got mine last week, and awesome cejilla, I love it. Nice and firm, stays tight with very little cranking, and maybe it's me, but the guitar seems to speak a little louder with it.

I will order one more as my flamenco instructor really wants one.

Last week, I got my carved cejilla from Tony. It looks great. Even though the photos are nice, they are nothing compared to how they look in reality.

Tony is a nice and patient guy. The shipment from America to Germany took only one week.

Thanks Tony.

Have a look at mine:
