Who needs a Conde?

Are you fed up with OVER-priced, OVER-rated Conde Hermanos guitars?

Then you need a SIERRA ESPECIAL 1A guitar.

The love of creating "fine" guitars began in the Sierra family in 1806 when Pedro Sierra opened his first workshop in Majorca. Since then, his skills, knowledge and expertise have been passed down through the family from son to son, ending in Jose Sierra, who now makes each guitar himself.

The philosophy behind Sierra's guitars is simple: "Calidad, Calidad, Calidad". Only the FINEST grades of plywood are HAND-SELECTED for their tonal properties and worked to PERFECTION by this master craftsman in the Sierra taller. This gives his guitars the ULTIMATE "bright" sound, so sought after by Flamencos.

Sierra doesn't WASTE TIME with trivial details- his family are FAMOUS for pioneering the "one-piece neck and fretboard" whereby the two parts CLEVERLY utilize the SAME piece of wood. "A thick layer of black paint is just as good as an Ebony fretboard" Jose enlightens us, "and similarly, why MAKE a rosette, when you can use a STICK-ON one?". Its SMART THINKING like this that really earns Sierra his reputation!

These improvements, coupled with the plastic bridge, make this guitar LIGHTER in weight than the majority of others on the market. and its NO WONDER the Flamenco Glitterati are beating a path to Jose's door!

Sierra's client list currently includes the likes of Juan Martin and Ottmar Liebert, who are both WELL KNOWN by all to be some of the GREATEST Flamenco guitarists alive today. It is even rumoured that Vicente Amigo expressed such an EXTREME interest in Sierra's 1A model, that Jose created the "1VA" guitar for him (pictured below). sources close to Vicente say that the 1VA is now his FAVORITE guitar!

According to Jose, "The age of the Conde is OVER, and guitarists are now looking for more suitable instruments that pose good value for money"

His guitars are currently available from VERY selected and reputable dealers, and prices start from £24.99. My advice would be to order one now before the prices go through the roof. but be warned: there is currently a 48 HOUR waiting list!!!

What a beauty. I didn't know that Vincente models are lefthanded models...

I guess the finish is thick enough to function as golpeador, doesn't it?

The image just got mirrored when I took it trough photoshop- Its really a right-hander

And who needs a golpeadore when you've got thick gloss paint?

That was a great post JB. It's been one of those days but this post made me laugh and made my day better. I just got off DeVoe's list and quickly got on Sierra'a 48 hour list. My guitar should arrive sometime Wednesday if it goes through customs quickly. I also had him leave off the rosewood headplate and just paint it brown to make this guitar even lighter.

Not only Jose...I have an Alhambra, bought in Eivissa in 1971 for $14, that has just such a fingerboard...(the bridge is also painted black).

Thanks guys

But it is great that even the poorest family can afford a guitar on which a young child can learn.

Once I was at a party and I saw a peghead like that being played by a really mediocre guitarist.

Anxious to summon a true duende from it I fell upon it, when he had finished playing.

To my shock and amazement I saw that he had replaced the pegs with tuners.

After a short argument I left in disgust.

However my dark mood was easily lightened when I threw a petrol bomb through his bay windows.

Up in smoke... probably the best thing for a guitar like that!

This guitar really fits to your new avatar.

By the way, this could be the way they are made:
