Doctor or Anders,

When you drill holes on the bridge, what the size of the drill bit you use?
Are the sizes standard or depending on individual prefference?

Update :

Here are 2 shots... no backshots yet as the neck isn't entirely finished... I sanded through it and I'll refinish it soon. Mid-term exams won't allow me to work any faster

. I haven't done any "Buzz chasing" work so sound clips will follow in the next weeks.

Looks and sounds great, Doc. I was looking at the serviced kits at LMII, and couldn't find the scale and nut width of the guitar. Is this something that can be manipulated during the build? Or are the kits sold in a standard size? Also, what resources did you use to research the building process? Thanks

For the scale, you can actually customize kits to fit your needs. Mine was a 650mm 19 frets serviced fingerboard. They come very large and you have to tape them down to the width and thickness you want. Same thing for the nuts.

I mostly used Cumpiano's book because he uses mostly hand tools and the OLF forums. I still built a guitar mold even though Cumpiano's doesn't use them... but I had no choice with prebent sides.

Since it was my first guitar, I have no idea of whys and hows

...It just is what it is, you know? I was talking to a German friend who played the guitar, who is sponsored by Robert Ruck, and he and I laughed together when I said that if I did this again, #2 and 3 would probably come out WORSE than #1, then #4 would be better.... Who knows?!

I built completely from 'lumber' from LMII and others. Kevin Murray has a nice selection of woods, too, for those considering:

So no, no kit. However, the luthier where I built my guitar, built his very first guitar from LMII's 'kit'. It's probably the 'driest' and most 'Spanish' sounding of his guitars.....Monterey Cypress, Engelmann top. For the money, there's no way to beat it. And other than 'macheeen toooners', I might try one sometime.

So it looks like I'm going to build again, too. Getting set up. A few people have been asking, so I think I'm going to build 2 more at once to make sure I have to process down in my mind, take more pics, keep a journal as I work with notes, sketches, etc... So I can look back to each step, compare, double check...

Did you keep a workbook/notebook??

You finishing yours is getting me fired up!!
