Why is there often a "gap" in the rosette at 12 o'clock? Like the circle isn't complete. I've always been curious... Thanks!

The fingerboard covers the 12 o’clock position on the rosette, so it’s not necessary to make a complete circle. Some makers do and some don’t, I generally don’t.

The last one in the series. The last rosette that will have that braid / fishbone pattern.

Starting from the outside line, Swiss Pear wood, dyed grey, dyed orange veneer, two thin lines of natural Hinoki. Then the fishbone braid, cherry and dyed veneer. Next black veneer, Japanese flamed Chestnut. More greendyed veneer, center line is natural Koa.

If you need to make the fingerboard flush is there a hole in that spot? or do you carve the channel for the rosette then stop at 12 oclock? I remember reading Jose Ramirez 3 doesn't glue the entire ebony board there so it can slide when it shrinks. I would think that gap would facilitate that

Always enjoy your sticker creations. Good inspiration. Do you use use your own proprietary concoctions of aniline dye with secret herbs and spices for those colors?
