“Heterosexual men who play extreme metal guitar do not seem to be doing it to attract women, as has been suspected about musicians of other genres,” DeLecce told PsyPost. “Instead, it seems they are trying to impress and/or intimidate other heterosexual men with their skills.”
44 guys who are included in the sample are ****ing LSE losers.
I pick up guitar to enjoy myself and make music. Attracting women with guitar skills is a side-effect of it, which I enjoy a lot. It's like hitting 2 rabbits with one shot. But I have never imagined in my life I shred on guitar to intimidate other guys. I don't understand. Very strange to think this way.

Do I sense some intrasexual competition there?

i'm guessing it would be twice as bad for flamenco guitarists lol since flamenco requires even more dedication and virtuosity than metal
Exactly. In metal, MAYBE, a hot chick bass player or something if lucky. In flamenco, constant attention from athletic hot dancers. And unlike Ballet, these women are not required to starve themselves, so hot athletic women not afraid to eat at Burger King, in desperate need of fast fingers. Best of all worlds right there. Here is mine:
