I live in a noisy environment, so it's harder these days for me to record with microphones. That is why I like / need to use pickups, such as piezos (under the saddle). Those tend to have "quack" or "plastic" qualities to their sound. I bought this pedal that helps tame that issue.
It comes with presets that you can use right out of the box, and it allows you to record your own IR to match the particular instrument you are using. This is a high-value device, and I've been very happy with mine.

Thanks for these tests Ramzi! Its an impressive difference. I can't believe how uninspiring the Godin sounds without it (and I own one, which I plan to sell)
This box looks great for noisy bar gigs. How does it compare to the Tonedexter other than being loads cheaper?

It's hard to tell from video so I couldn't say if it's better but the Tonedexter works pretty well. Huge improvement. And I have the older version.

I haven't used a ToneDexter myself, so I can't say. Aaron Short does a comparison with steel string guitars. Check out his video... I think the answer will end up being that it depends on your particular situation, and you'll have to use both and do A/B comparisons then decide which one you like. The Optima Air is not too expensive. I imagine the new ToneDexter when it comes out is going to likely cost three times as much, so that factor is hard to remove from the decision-making equation.

Hi Ramzi! I'm experimenting with Optima Air myself. I wonder if you, being from Lebanon, are aware of any IR's of ouds? I have seen many online of guitars but nothing yet for ouds, which I am also interested in--as I very much dislike the sound coming from the piezo on my electric oud. Hope to hear from you! Best regards, Hans
