Flamenco guitar build with luthier T...

I recently built a Flamenco guitar with luthier Trevor Gore. Below is a video with my thoughts on the experience for your interest:

Wow, absolutely stunning woods. congratulations on the guitar and seeing it through. Really great video video with the narration and pictures of the build. funny, building a boat is on my bucket list too. Used to race a bit as well and I work in the marine navigation field... but only so much time to spare these days.

Really cool you got to work with Trevor. I’ve been meaning to pick up his books for a little light reading, only flipped through them so far. I’ve seen his falcate bracing, but never a bridge design like that. But the proof is in the playing and sound of course.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and welcome to the foro.

I don't ever use criticism toward a person for building what he strives for. But I would be interested in seeing the top plan, which I may have missed on the website.

The guitar sounded quite brash to my ears but this could be attributed too a number of things due to the recording and how it was played.

All in all, I would call it a work of art.

Where did you find a recording of it? He hasn't posted any as far as I can see; only says he will do so.

I don’t have a recording of the guitar posted yet. I should be able to post a recording sometime in the next couple of weeks. I’ll let you know when i do.

All the guitar recordings on my youtube channel are of my gidgee classical. All of these recordings were done at my house with basic equipment. In addition, I had limited knowledge about recording for the first few clips and it wasn’t until i figured out better mic placement and room location that i started getting reasonable recordings.

Here is an example of a reasonable recording of that guitar:

A final comment: the guitar i built is a flamenco spec with falcate bracing, but i am not a flamenco player. I am primarily a classical player, but I dabble in flamenco, jazz, folk. This guitar is intended to be a more all-round nylon string guitar than my gidgee classical.

I've finally got around to recording the guitar after festive season responsibilities.

Recorded on iPhone with Shure MV88 in my living room:
