Superb shot. I didn't realize the South Pole had that little spot, like where the vine broke off. Looks kind of like a honeydew melon. You must used a telescope?

That's not the South Pole, though. The Lunar South Pole is on the FAR SIDE (oooooOOOOOooooo) and not visible from the Earth.

Unless.... Wait; Simon, exactly where is your "garden" that you shot this from???

[But seriously, this thing is the Tycho crater].

Amazing shot, truly. It is so hard to get a crisp Moon picture and in that level of detail.

The actual south pole is a really weird area. Here it is, at the 'northwest' edge of the Shackleton crater:
