Well, I thought my responses were clear enough.  . Anyway, the famous Joaquin Cortes many years ago obviously influenced these people, and he is not even maricon as every female member of his company was required to sleep with him before getting in (this I heard from someone seriously considering joining but had to decline ). For sure the shirtless guy, the dude in the dress, and the man-bun in the leather skirt are all either paying direct tribute to Naomi Campbell’s ex boyfriend OR they are ripping him off badly. More likely the later as the tribute thing is quite cheesy.
To other folks that don’t know about Joaquin etc, well, for a long time now flamenco dancers have been pushing the envelope of artistic expression on the dance stage with QUESTIONABLE TASTE due to perhaps boredom with the traditional genre? If you watch the first flamenco movie of Saura, Cortes had the arrogance and audacity to dance with no shirt on when his fellow artists were the likes of (as morante mentioned) heavy weights such as Mario Maya and Farruco! Now at a superficial level that was perhaps artisictically bold or whatever in context for Joaquin to do that, plus with his string ensemble, however, it can also be seen as insulting to the ancient art form and it’s greatest artists in history. Note that the OTHER Joaquin, (Grilo), danced with exceptional taste and skill despite being considered “modern” by comparison.
Since then many dancers have taken the fact the guy “got away with it” on stage to be a green light to all kind of wacky stuff (Rocio Molina strip tease alegrias, or tossing menstrual blood on stage etc), to the point where the video morante has posted is practically “normalized” and now the music world being forced to swallow lady Gaga esque “Rosalias” and what not as representative of “flamenco”.
Once again it is about taste, not about one’s sexual orientation.

My flamenco focus started with guitar and progressed to cante. I have never known much about dance. Of course when we go to Spain, the flamenco shows are all about baile--except for Jose Luis Postigo's place in Sevilla. His show is about equal parts guitar, cante and dance.
The dialogue between cantaor and tocaor is for me one of the great pleasures of cante: Manuel Morao with Terremoto (padre) and La Perla de Cadiz, Paco Cepero and Aurora Vargas, Diego del Gastor and Fernanda de Utrera, Périco el del Lunar (padre y hijo) with Rafael Romero "El Gallina", Paco with Fosforito and Camaron.....
So anyhow, I looked up Joaquin Cortes on Youtube. Wow. Talk about the dancer as" Major Star" and Big Boss!
