I have both a classical and a flamenca that might be seen as collectors' items. They get played regularly.

I bought both second hand. The classical shows considerable playing wear. The flamenca was 18 years old when I had it appraised. Richard Bruné said he went over it with a magnifying glass and could not see any sign it had been handled, much less played.

Brian Cohen told me the flamenca had belonged to a "collector" from the time it was new.

One day in San Antonio Tom Blackshear introduced me to a friend as a "collector" and another adjective or two. I objected that I played all of my guitars. Tom asked me how many guitars I had. When I answered, he said, "You're a collector."

I let it go at that.

Still, I don't have that many guitars, and they don't just sit around in display cases.

I just glanced at the site, but I think they offered photos and a more detailed description if you asked for them. They mentioned 5 cracks in the soundboard below the bridge.

I've never bought a guitar with a crack in it. I've only ever bought one without playing it--turned out to be great.

I have an old Gerundino 1967. Play it in winter and take it to lessons too. A scratch more or less makes no different. And it is so old that it stays the same in the dry winter too. So, if you have an “extremely hot woman”, use here, or you are not worth it... nice playing!

Sounds pretty good from what I can tell.
The top looks really in bad shape.
They need to get Ricardo to play it.

I dream of owning a flamenco of this era. Ok, perhaps I dream of haveing the des posable cash to own one.

I like the idea of a living museum where the more historical guitars could be kept safe but still played and studied rather then locked away in a collectors cabinet. Although I know many collectors are what keep,them safe and allow some to play them.

I see the post Covid world changing many if not most of our ideas about what we need verses what we want...
