Fatty frets on a flamenco .090"...

FATTY FRETTS ON A FLAMENCO

I had seen a few classical builds with fat Jascar frets and decided to try them mostly because I thought they looked cool.

What I discovered was my well used fat short fingers found them easier to fret. Now keep in mind I had not played much Spanish guitar over the years so I was relearning a lot as for as playing and building up left hand strength. Of course now that I've been playing quite a bit every day for almost two years I don't really notice the difference as much, in fact when I look I have to ask myself, are these the standard frets or fatty; glasses must wear my glasses.

Over to the Delcamp it has been noted that some will sharpen by pushing down on the taller frets more so then on the standard sized frets. I can too but only when I'm really pushing down too hard on purpose. To be honest I don't have that good an ear but find I'm getting better at noticing the nuances between the fret placement, say between a few of my earlier builds; glasses must wear my glasses.

Attached should be a chart from the Jascar website of the fatty fret I use, not really the jumbo size some use: .090" wide and .055" tall.

Well shoot my iPad saves screen shots as a *.png which won't upload so no fret chart...

I prefer my flamenco guitar spicy,
doesn't have to be fast,
should have some meat on the bones,
can be raw or well done,
as long as it doesn't sound like it's turning green on an elevator floor.
