How much is this guitar worth?

Your thoughts please on how to value a guitar for insurance purposes. My husband owns and still plays Andy Culpepper #2 (Andy of course kept #1 last we knew). What would it be worth now? Thanks for your ideas!

RE: How much is this guitar worth? (in reply to Lonnie

Been eyeing this request with interest, curious about responses.

As no one replied though, here my 2 cents:

I estimate this guitars market value to lie in the future.
Can´t tell how Andy´s early guitars exactly compare to his later ones, but seeing the fact that he himself is being content with them still, ought to tell something about their qualities. (Probably as well, that your husband seems to enjoy his axe still.)

For now, I´d think that insuring this instrument for not under 3 grands should be of sense.
And the better the condition it be kept in (it looks pretty mint still) the better a potential future collector´s value should be.

(His makes have already been quite embraced by advanced players and been touring with thelikes of Buena Vista Social Club.
I expect instruments from his shop may well be ranked up there among the top maker´s one day / commanding hefty price tags. Only that due to at times sloppy market mechanisms, one must hope that it shall be before he´ll be 82 or so.
- After all there have been too many great talents who even came to appreciation yet post mortem, while lesser or non proficient ones were allowed to wear silk & laurel per omnem vitam.)

Cheers

I was going to say, look at what second-hand Culpepper guitars are selling for--but I couldn't find any online. To me that is a sign that they are holding their value. I assume Andy was charging less when you bought yours than he is charging now. It might be safe to assume that yours is worth the current price of a new one. Besides, for insurance purposes, that would be the replacement cost.
