The Basque country

Looking forward very much to spending a few days not in Andalucía, for once. Off to Bilbao and San Sebastian for frankly, pintxos. I think there's a bit of cultcha up there as well as some 'scenery'.

Anyone been?

I've been to Bilbao and San Sebastian when my family visited me in Spain. Bilbao is nice and interesting and I liked it. But San Sebastian was wonderful to me, it has some charm that made me fall in love with it (and pintxos are great of course :)) Enjoy your trip, I'd love to come back one day.

I'm sure it's already on your list, but in Bilbao be sure to visit the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art designed by the architect Frank Gehry.

I share Filip's impression of San Sebastian. It left more of a mark than Bilbao.
Lots of beautiful villages with traditional Basque architecture if you venture a bit more inland. If you care to cross the border, Espelette isn't too far off from San Sebastian (about an hour drive if memory serves) and it should be that time of year when the peppers are out to dry (I think they have a festival sometime around this time of year. Might be worth checking out).
