Making of Video (low budget)

I have just completed a guitar project.
The guitar was built for a well-known German flamenco guitarist

The customer was so excited about the build process that he asked me to record some videos to keep him up to date on the progress.

Now he has cut these videos for me into a small film and accompanied it musically.

Now we are both happy!

Great video, thanks for sharing.
Just a couple of questions: have you been inspired by Barba? What case do you use in the video?
Thanks

Nice short video tells it like it is, with certain tools you use to make it happen.

My problem on the heel carving is that it turns to mush when trying to carve it but it works with an electric spindle rotating sander to shape the curves, etc...first time this has ever happened but it tells me about the draw backs of certain wood grain with-in the Spanish cedar variety.

Hi Echi,

one of my first guitars I ever build, was with a nine fan pattern. By the way, not a really good guitar.
Years later, I heard from a builder named Francisco Barba.
In the last years I fortunately have three Barba Guitars in my shop and recognized that he build nearly the same pattern.
(One was outstanding the others Not bad but not nearly as good.
With my second guitar, years ago, I switched to an Barbero and seven Fan Pattern.
Nowadays I build all my Flamencas with this kind of Barba bracing. I think it suits to my kind of building style.

The brand of the Case is SKB.

Tom,
the knife I use in the video is made from an old sawblade (Metall Saw Maschine Blade).
Since I made this knife I love carving the heel!
Best Tool in my workshop!!!

The Knife I use is Mexican made from a friend of mine, from a hack saw blade, with a long handle and it usually works well but on this particular heel I had to go buy a small spindle hand held drum sander to get the right curve. I sharpened the knife razor sharp and it still got chunks instead of fine shavings from the knife; really weird. And the wood is as hard as nails.

I've never seen Spanish cedar act like this. Usually it carves like butter

I like the looks of your knife.

That is some fine German craftsmanship. I watched the video a couple times wish it was longer!

What is that shim you are chiseling off on the side of your heel block for? I assume it’s to keep it square for some kind of machining? Also I like how you are not a sandpaper guy - every surface scraper and planed.

I’m building my first guitar, flamed maple back and sides and a segmented wood rosette. Except it not going to look anywhere as nice as yours!!

This is really nice.
What is that rosette? Tortoise shell?
I really like that ascending arpeggio ending....

You are right, it is for Band sawing and marking the Heel because of the narrow foot block!

The Rosette is Wood, spaltet Maple.
