Thumb in arps

I've been paying a lot of attention to my thumb position while playing arpeggios and I've noticed that the thumb position has a huge impact on the whole hand position. I was especially looking at three aspects of the thumb:

1. the top of the thumb nail - whether it faces the ceiling or rotate away from your body

2. the pointing edge of the thumb nail - whether it points towards the headstock or more towards your body. I find that as it points more towards the headstock the fingers become slightly more vertical into that famous flamenco hand position.

3. the bend of the thumb - Vicente Amigo's thumb always stands out. Maybe it allows more weight to rest on the tip of the thumb compared to a flatter thumb which has more of the holding of the hand coming from the wrist.

I'm considering that allowing the thumb's weight to fully rest on the strings (but not applying pressure) frees up tension in the fingers and allows the fingers be more accurate in their attack.

Any thoughts?
