Replacing bridge

Dear Lutiers,

I removed a damaged bridge from a guitar ( fake bridge made from Pine and stained dark chocolate brown).

while removing i forget to mark and make references so I can glue the new bridge back in

the guitar is 650 scale , I need help on how to locate the position of the bridge so I can glue it perfectly.

Haitham

You have to use these compensation distances at the saddle to give accurate intonation:

1.28 mm for the1st string
2.14 mm for the 2nd string
3.14 mm for the 3rd string
1.47 mm for the 4th string
1.73 mm for the 5th string
2.91 mm for the 6th string

Or you could place the bridge so the string length is 651 mm.

could you please explain for me a step by step on how to relocate the bridge correctly! where i can take a reference! the slot is angled and it is in the middle of the bridge

Hi,
In this case you don’t need to calculate the fret distance but just to find the right place for the bridge.
As Ethan said, the distance between the beginning of the fretboard and the bridge slot must be 651 mm.
You can check the distance either with a long ruler or you can make a dime 651 mm long and clamp it, while placing the bridge.

If the top edges of the saddle are rounded--as they should be to keep from cutting the strings--then this may add a mm of length to the string beyond the edge of the slot.
